Re: Northeast Event Feed: Request for input

Kevin G,
?
My feeling is I'd drop the durations of all of them a bit--I think most of us have access to fairly large telescopes.? Maybe drop 12 to 0.1 (or even shorter), 14 to 0.2, 16 to 1.0--although I generally ignore anything fainter than mag 15 anyway.? Are you also putting a limit in for rank?? Same question for mag drop??
?
The Arizona feed is full of ones that are faint, short, and low ranked--as a result it takes a long time to wade through.? But I end up trying at least on of theirs per week assuming I get any clear weather.
?
I guess that for the location, you are going to put in the rough mid-point of the NE tip of Maine and the W tip of VA (looks like roughly Scranton, PA) with a ~900 km distance?? Or is there a better way to do it?
?
Thanks.
?

Subject: [OccultNEUS] Northeast Event Feed: Request for input

Greetings!

It would be great have a feed for Northeast area coordination. What I do for myself may be more than what people want.?

Currently, I run Occult-4 for the Westport Astronomical Society telescope in Westport, CT. I upload all my potentially observable events to Occultwatcher (OW) ,and they can usually be found in the "Planned Observations" feed on OW. Most events are duplicates in other feeds, but occasionally there are some gems from rocks in the 10-100 km range that get missed by the others.

Here are my general parameters of what I'm thinking for this group.
? ? Shadows in the region Ohio East to Atlantic Coast, Virginia North to Maine.
? ? Magnitude 16 or brighter with max DR 5 seconds or longer
? ? Magnitude 14 or brighter with max DR 2 seconds or longer
? ? Magnitude 12 or brighter with max DR? 0.2 seconds or longer.

Wondering if there is another place to post events for this group, something like the asteroidoccultation.com postings, or maybe even in this group chat here.

Looking for input.
