Re: Re-attaching Dew-Guard to rear of secondary mirror
Pictures might help.?? I have removed the secondary mirror from it holder on my Starmaster without removing the holder from the spider. It is not hard.? The screws that hold the mirror in come out. I do suggest wearing gloves.? It is very easy to get figure prints on your secondary mirror. Chris On Fri, Dec 2, 2022 at 10:32 AM Phill Roey <pcphill@...> wrote:

Re: Re-attaching Dew-Guard to rear of secondary mirror
I'm not sure it's the same, but on our 18" UC you can remove the screws holding the secondary cylinder to spider/collimator mount and remove the foam, dew heater, and mirror from there. It's nothing to do with the battery.? On one occasion the mirror fell out, fortunately not when the OTA was in place and I pushed it back into the sleeve but suspect that the connections to the Dew Guard have become detached. My question is: how do I remove the secondary mirror properly and safely from the metal sleeve / holder? I can see some screws that may open up the cylindrical sleeve, but am not sure I should touch these. |

Re: Getting ready for some remote observing with the UC18
Tony,
I remotely observe with my UC18 and take lots of photos. There are some posted in the photo section of this site. I do recommend you take a look at the Mallincam DS287C camera that can stack and take programmable length exposures. I posted a block diagram in the photos section of this site you might find helpful. Good luck. Richard |
Re: Getting ready for some remote observing with the UC18
Why a UC18 for imaging? Won¡¯t you get much better imaging results with a eq mounted scope designed for that? Check the archive for previous detailed message on how another user set his up for remote viewing.? On Mon, Nov 21, 2022 at 10:48 AM Anthony Calloway <a.calloway@...> wrote:

Am I being too optimistic or is this scope capable if suitably upgraded.? I assume I need a DSLR? camera but not sure what else ? Can anyone please provide advice. Thank You Tony Calloway |

Re: Aluminium Clamps For secondary Cage 18" Classic
?Hello, yes, I already contacted Gary for equipment, despite his retirement, he helped me a lot and managed to provide me with equipment. Yesterday I had Dave from Obsession, the classic has long been discontinued, no more parts available for this model.

Re: Aluminium Clamps For secondary Cage 18" Classic
I needed an altitude drive cable for my 18 inch classic. I contacted Gary Myers with StellerCat and he supplied the cable. Perhaps he has the clamp sets you need.?

Obsession Classic 18/F4.5 secondary configuration request help
Obsession Classic 18/F4.5 secondary configuration request help Hello, I want to upgrade my Obsession Classic 18" F4.5 for imaging with equatorial platform and Full Frame sensor (24x36) My questions : Use of a big Paracorr 3" from Televue Focus starlight instruments FTF3215B-A Starlight instrument adapter A32-3203-1 Adapter 3" Starlight instruments for the big Paracorr EC32-3205-3CR I change the secondary mirror for a 4" To adapt all this, I do not touch my current secondary cage, a new one will be manufactured, it will certainly be necessary to modify the length of the tubes to reach the focal point, the draw being different (currently I have the FTF2015BCR used with Paracorr 2, but I have this unpleasant vignetting with the 24x36) My questions are simple, would this configuration be the right one, do we agree, the only focuser at Starlight instruments capable of accepting the big Paracorr 3" from Televue is the FTF3215B-A model? (I have looked at the 3015 but the clear aperture is not big enough for big Paracorr from what I have read¡) Thank you for your advice and comments. Sincerely, Guillaume. |
