I got the original DSG around 1970.? Later I got newer versions.? The first one had a supplement in the back with some new models such as the U28CG that were released after the book had been laid out.

I remember Es and Fs in service.? I didn't know locomotive model numbers until I got a copy of the Diesel Spotter's Guide around 1970 or so.? The first new model of engine I was aware of was the SD45T-2 as Trains had articles and photos about the 1972 EMD -2 improvements to their 1966 models and SP got SD45T-2s to help with cooling in the snowsheds and tunnels on Donner and in the Cascades. ....
