Well Eric, maybe 15 years ago your sessions on JT65 got me into digital modes as it was becoming THE place to be in ham radio.? Not sure what the next great new innovation will be, but I’ll bet you do.? Maybe a session on that??

Re: Field Day 2024

Hey Gary,

I don’t know that we’ll have a dedicated GOTA station, but I don’t see any reason why we can’t use one of the other radios for a part time GOTA station.? Seems like that might require another computer to keep the logs separated (since the GOTA station operates under a different call and can work all the stations N4N works too).

?

The rules have changed for GOTA scoring.? No limit to GOTA QSOs for each operator.? Each QSO is 5 points (with no power multiplier) regardless of mode used.? GOTA coach bonus is a single 100 point bonus for having a coach present for at least 10 QSOs.? So if we have a radio and operators available is makes sense to operate a GOTA station.?

?

Daytime we should have propagation on 40-10m, and maybe 6m.? Nighttime we should have 80 and 40 all night and 20 and 15m until after most operators call it a day.? So up to four stations would work without the QRM problems with two stations on a single band.?

Let me ping the group one more time to see who is interested in participating in FD 2024.? FD is 3 ? weeks away.

So far the only participants I know of for sure are me and AE4TQ Eddie.? Between us we have all that is needed to set up two stations, and IC7300 set up for digital modes (courtesy of AE4TQ) and a Kenwood TS-590 set up for either digital modes or CW (courtesy of KE4UW).?

A couple of others have expressed interest at times, but I haven’t heard anything firm recently.? So if you’re interested, let us know.?

We’ll have single-band wire antennas for 10m-80m, and a 6m yagi if we have critical mass to raise it.? We can adjust the number of transmitters based on availability of operators/radios.?

I think it’s a safe assumption that the food and beer will be outstanding!

So who wants to play?
