Hi, All,

Hope the anticipation for Field Day is rising high amongst all of you. I
know that we're looking forward to it, and have an ambitious itinerary
planned out to visit 10 to 12 sites, time and weather permitting. (Let's
hope this nice weather lasts through the weekend.)Unfortunately, we
can't visit with all of you who so kindly issued an invitation (though
we appreciated the temptations you offered of those goodies like steak,
and blackened fish, and some of the "best chicken in the
southeast"....)We're gonna try to hit some new spots this year, so as
much as we wanted to, we couldn't do that and still make it to all of
the sites we visited last year, too....

Anyhow, since this year is the first year that we'll be attempting to
handle Field Day messages via packet, SCOTT HARTLAGE, KF4PWI, thought it
might be a good idea to do a little "practice" to check out the system.
And he was kind enough to share the log of that practice session to
benefit all of you who may be thinking about sending your message via
packet this year. Give it a try!! And many thanks to Scott and all of
the rest of the Gwinnett ARES folks who've volunteered their expertise
to accept these messages.

So there ya have it folks! It would be particularly cool if all of you
Class F operators sent a packet message. Which reminds me: If your group
is running a Class F operation this year, please let our esteemed SEC
MIKE BOATRIGHT, KO4WX, know about it. (ko4wx@...) And I think both
he and I would love to hear how your Class F operation went, after all
is said and done. An "after action report" if you will... something that
we can then send to HQ to give them our GA operators' opinion on the new
class.
