Howard,

No problem in the least to charge for your software. I was always
amazed that you offered it for free. I had no idea that you had been
unemployed for so long...being such a good programmer. But I certainly
see what you mean relative to the flood of cheap IT workers the H1B visa
program has caused. As a long time user of your software, I have gotten
lots of good utility with it and it has always been reliable with good
support. I hope you will get lots of paying subscribers.

Good luck and 73's,? Marc? W0KYZ

Re: Ham Radio Integrator will no longer be free.

Charles Brain is a DSP Guru God, and a very nice person. I have communicated with him a few times this year.

Charles Brain has given me written permission to use his m110 software code. Took much work to get the transmit code to work, as its original purpose was an RX only product, and the TX code was only intended for testing.

This is the same Brain code Steve started with a decade ago, and Steve's DMT is still a mess, crashing randomly, can't handle long messages,etc.. I found DMT works better at higher speeds compared to slower speeds indicating big problems. Steve really tries hard, but I do not think he is a software professional. I think distributing software with many huge problems was a major disservice to MARS.

My "TheModem" has been tested by MARS members who own expensive hardware M110A, and their conclusion was it is a very good software modem fully compatible with MARS encryption software using M110 or MT63.

I will see if MARS members will pay $25 per year for my TheModem software rather than spend $2000 for the lowest priced hardware modem. Or they might continue suffering with DMT.

Maybe Chiefs Army and AF MARS will get the military to buy all members a license? It's really not much for the organization to spend.

If TheModem sells well, I am thinking of ALE as my next project primarily for MARS use.

Howard

P.S. Doug, a few years ago I decided to stop doing blue collar work. I refuse to work a full-time job and still take money out of savings each month. I prefer to live poor, until social security payments begin.

Re: AT-Auto Serial Connection Problems

John,

Read the Kessler Engineering manual for the AT AUTO.
In Chapter 9 it talks about the RTS line doing a reset - and that doing this constantly can damage the tuner.
It talks about a jumper inside the AT AUTO to disable the RTS reset line.
So, there should be no need to "cut" the RTS line - just move the appropriate jumper.

Read the manual and you should find details.

All version should be in the FILES section at the groups.io website.
As I said, there should be no problem using the Java version of HRI on Windows 10.
I just thought people preferred the Visual Studios version of HRI.

Good Luck,
Howard

I seem to recall that RTS causes the AT AUTO to do a reset. I'd need to look it up in the manual. If my memory is correct, then you'd need a modified serial cable with the RTS wire cut, or some way to make the Ethernet adapter stop using RTS. Check the manual.

I don't know why you are using the java version with windows 10. Nothing wrong with that. I just thought the visual studios version looks better and performs a little faster.

Good luck,

Rene,

I just looked in the Java code and all references to 0BKCBLUE.GIF are in capital letters.
It's great that you found the solution to the problem.
I do not understand the problem since the code uses capital letters for the files, and the file names are in capital letters.

I will rename all the files as lower case letters, post another version of the Java HRI software, and you can let me know if it works well.

Hi Rene,

The GIF files for the digits are in a sub-folder called "digits', and is located where Ham Radio Integrator was installed.? You will find? 100 files because there are 10 choices of appearances for the digits.

I suggest you check Edit--Settings--Radio Tab, and check which Digits are selected.
"Blue Black Digits" should be selected by default.

Most settings are stored in HamRadioIntegratorSettings.ini.txt and "digit font" is an integer value for the list of fonts.

Unfortunately, few if any people use the Linux version of HRI.?
Note: You might notice the 39 Tone modem in the Linux version - it does not work.

Regards,
Howard

The solution is to rename or copy? all CAPS letters to normal case, for?example the Black/Blue digits

Howard

Re: 2 instances of HRI Visual Studio version on one Win7 computer?

Tom,

I think the answer is no, because the two instances will be using the same settings files.

I think yes, if you run HRI-java for one radio and run HRI-VisualStudios for the second radio, as the settings files are in different locations.

Howard
