Re: Proximity switch / Limit switch help needed

Any good direct-acting industrial switch will be good enough for hobby use.
Ie a switch with a atraight plunger.
Accuracies should be around 0.01 mm range.

I dont like lever switches, because
-they trap dirt and swarf and get full of stuff, break and can get shorts
-they are inaccurate due to lever arm bending (so they dont repeat well)

I dont like microswitches (the small cheap less than matchbox sized) for the same reasons are lever switches.

Optical limits switches are the most accurate, ime.
Using a hw board, i measured 1-3 microns repeability with the first tests. Sw filtering could get this down to <=2 microns.

Run cables that are armoured, or in protected spaces, or inside a plastic cover.
Use normally closed switches.

Optionally:
24V dc will keep contacts cleaner and is the industry norm.
It wont work directly with the board mentioned.
I am not a fan of relays in limits (reliability), or home switches (reliability, accuracy).

I think you only have few inputs, so need to link the switches to use as few inputs as possible.
See the docs and board for samples.

I am using a 4 axis HobbyCNC driver board.

Any advice on this subject would be great.
