Re: Running stepper with MPG

Dave... Axes is plural of axis (). It is really unfortunate that axes is also the plural of axe ().

Hi Tom,
?
Please don't take this the wrong way but in the UK an axe is a thing that cuts wood. As a machine designer I have an image in my head of some crazy wood cutting machine with axes and saw blades and you've run out of axes... the mind boggles. :-)
?
Even reading it as 'axis' I can't imagine why a saw machine would run out of them... could you?relieve my mind from this torment and tell us what the axes on your machine do and what you need an extra one for..??
?
I'm really curious :-)
?
Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,

Interesting device, no doubt?this is use full. According to my knowledge those servos uses PWM signal to control servo.

Thanks.

Servo testers are cheap/simple and you can get some pretty big/powerful servos for models...

Hi,

I'm run out of axes on my saw machine and would like to have one additional
axe without the connection to the PC.

Is there a way how to manually drive stepper motor with MPG
(incremental encoder).
The idea on how to do it is pretty simple, but how to convert A/B
signals from MPG to get
direction pulse for stepper driver. Is there any hardware available
regarding this issue?

Any idea is highly appreciated.

Tom
