Re: pulses per unit

One inch = 16 turns.
One turn = 200 x 8 = 1600 steps.
1600 x 16 = 25600 steps per inch.

Sounds like you have it right.
What results do you get if you move one inch, G1 X1 F10 from 0,0,0 ?

I use about 1000 steps /mm on steppers, at 1:3 (mill).
The 1:3 (belt) transmission accounts for my higher (ball)screw rise, around 4-5 mm typically.

Configuration of pulses per unit.
There are s few ideas floating about on how to do this. but let me tell you what I do have. Motors are coupled directly to the shaft no reductions. Lead screw 16tpi, I am working in imperial units.and set the config to inches. The stepping motor need 200 steps per turn and I set the driver board for 8 microstep per step How many pulses do I need per unit. What I was doing was multiply 200 steps X 16 tpi X 8 microsteps; however, I am missing something.
Can someone help?
Thank you very much.
