iMacBook pro black screen 16
Husband's Mac playing up - giving the black screen. Done all the usual things. Initially figured it might be frayed cable in the hinge area but after observing it for the last day or so despite its showing 100% battery charge its collapsing to 64% fairly quickly so figure we are going to be up for $200 battery plus diagnosis fee - eway out of warranty :-) 2015 model. Considering how he lugs it all over the house and I chastise him for being rough its turned out to be rugged. Jude

Hi 17
I¡¯m sorry. I feel very guilty & ashamed for sharing this with you, but my depression has become overbearing. My Taxi driver today said he heard of a case where a man wanted to commit suicide: ¡°& she said go ahead I¡¯m sick of hearing about it¡± He tied a rope round his neck & the bed & jumped out. He was paralysed from the neck down. He asked her to kill him & she pushed him off a bridge in front of a truck. Only his mobile phone showed what she had done. She got life, but onely served 10 years

Help 7
Please, Please, Chris could you help me. I have all the classic symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, leading to Treatment Resistant Depression. I was stalked, not just by a postgraduate, but by staff at Manchester University. The mental health services in this town are useless. They should be struck off & the Millbrook Unit bulldozed.

High Court update 6
Here¡¯s an example, Jude. Chums of members of the Cabinet being given contracts without any evidence that they could provide the goods. Chris Begin forwarded message: From: Jo Maugham - Good Law Project <info@...> View this email in your browserGood Law ProjectDear Friend, Today the High Court heard our lawyers detail waste, mismanagement - and yet more special treatment for politically connected companies placed in the ¡°VIP¡± Lane. Government paid tens of millions of pounds to PestFix and Ayanda Capital for face masks which did not meet NHS standards. An email from a senior official stated that they needed to ¡°get out of a contract¡± due to ¡°a failure of the commercial process¡¡± PestFix was in the ¡°VIP¡± lane because an ex-director was an old-school friend of a senior official's father-in-law; Ayanda, because one of its senior advisers was a member of Government¡¯s Board of Trade. Government failed to carry out any proper checks before ordering gowns from PestFix. After examining the evidence, our lawyers told the Court: ¡°over ?100m spent on gowns with no technical assurance, no financial due diligence and based on a misunderstanding of the gowns which were actually being purchased.¡± Government didn¡¯t put its cards on the table. One witness went to some lengths to ¡°gloss over¡± - as our lawyer put it - the lack of technical assurance. It was left to a detailed forensic review by our legal team to uncover this extraordinary failure. Government awarded huge contracts to Ayanda Capital despite it having failed financial due diligence. The hedge fund was given a red rating, which meant there were ¡°Major issues or concerns [which] would need to be resolved before we use them¡± Not only did this not dissuade Government from accepting Ayanda¡¯s offer to supply millions of FFP2 masks, but its VIP status actually meant that it was invited to supply a different type of mask, leading to an even larger contract award. This was taxpayers¡¯ money, dished out to companies because of who they knew, not what they could supply. The result - unsurprisingly - was a waste of hundreds of millions of pounds. In these contracts alone. Our challenge seeks to get to the truth of the PPE procurement process in which - again to quote our lawyer - ¡°a truly colossal amount of public money¡± was spent ¡°in circumstances of almost total secrecy¡±. Please help us shine a light on this scandal by sharing with your friends and family and asking them to sign up for updates. Scams!
Not sure if you will all be able to access this, but because we are buying more online now, because of Covid, more & more scammers are taking advantage of it. I¡¯ve had 3 attempts made on me. The most scary was through online banking. My internet connection was severed & then someone from ¡°my bank¡± offered to help me make the transfer into my ISA by ¡®phone call. I don¡¯t use wi-fi, it is literally spaghetti junction here with all the cables. The scary thing is a BT technical couldn¡¯t figure out how it could have been done & my friend Brian was at a loss. Bear in mind he graduated Best of Year in Physics & Electronic Engineering, has a PhD & was head hunted by the MOD to head up purchasing. How someone can so thoroughly abuse their intelligence I do not know and at a time of suffering. The only consolation I have is that they will be answering to the man downstairs: https://www.theguardian.com/news/audio/2021/may/24/the-pandemic-scam-artists-making-millions-during-lockdownn-podcast John

re slides
Just for my own interest I was assembling photos taken of a group of townhouses interiors I was interested in into a set of slides. Viewed one with agent and loved it but missed out, and another coming up shortly...allegedly. I discovered if I opened a Keynote document and dragged photos into the side column it just makes individual slides .... Yeah! Then I tried the same in powerPoint -- no such luck. So I had a go at writing an automator action to do what Keynote does so easily......well I put it together and it worked...sort of... in that I got them all into a slideshow in the end.... however it bobbed up for the first half dozen seeking permission to take control of the Mac to do so -- I said yes six times and then it suddenly decided oh blow this so to speak and rattled the rest of the 20 into slides without asking :-) :-) I just fell about laughing. Obviously if I wanted to do that on a regular basis I would have to write a better action in some way giving it better permission somehow - though I had ticked the box pertaining to that. Plus in the case of this set of pix they were a bit large and I probably should have done an automator to resize before I dropped them into my Multislides automator. But it kept my brain busy for the arvo yesterday completing the task I set myself. In the end though I thought well I can just make them up in Keynote and save them to .ppt later if I wanted :-) Always more than one to skin a cat as they say. Jude

Joke, which might get me in trouble
What the hell it¡¯s been tough week! The Lone Ranger & Tonto were through the badlands of America, when they came across very aggressive apache¡¯s The Lone Ranger said: ¡°We might be in trouble here Tonto!¡± & he replied: ¡°What do you mean ¡°WE¡±:¡± So they let Tonto go, but kept the Lone Ranger & Silver locked up. The chief said in 3 days you die! The next day, the Lone Ranger asked to speak to his horse Silver. Silver nodded & within 6 hrs he came back with a beautiful buxom blonde on his back, & they went into a tent together. The next day the Lone Ranger whispered into Silver¡¯s ear. In 4 hrs Silver came back with a more beautiful, buxom Red head. The chief said: ¡°You indeed have a very intelligent horse, but tomorrow you die!¡± So the Lone Ranger asks: May I speak to my horse alone in a cave?¡± The Indian Chief agrees to this & the Lone Ranger gets as close up to Silvers ear as possible & shouts: ¡°FETCH POSSE!"

New scam 5
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/may/18/delivery-text-scams-the-nasty-new-wave-sweeping-the-uk These are getting more & more sophisticated. These people could earn good money in an honest job. The only explanation is pure greed & a complete lack of conscience. I even received an email saying my new ?400 iPhone order was complete & would be delivered in 24 hours, as I¡¯d recently had my wallet stolen, I was worried. They stood to gain nothing except cruelty. The fraud office at my bank told me it was doing the rounds. John

Here's one for Chris! 6
A passenger on a plane thought it was a bit unusual to have a man sitting next to a dog on the next seat. So he asked him: Why have you got a dog sitting next to you? He replied: I'm an FBI agent. Then he said: Rover Seek! Rover went up the right aisle, came back & put his right paw on the agent's hand: The passenger said: "I like it!" then the agent said: "Rover seek" Rover went down the left aisle. He came back & put his left paw on the agent's hand. The agent said: "Rover Seek" He went down the right aisle & sprinted back. Then he crapped all over the seat! The passenger said Jeesalou, what's wrong with your dog!? The agent said Rover just found a B B BOMB!

My father was programming up the video recorder. He was down on his hands & knees in front of it. He programmed it up 2 seconds later it shut down & he said: "Well, what happened there?" He programmed it up a second time. My mother was shaking her head & mouthing NO!. NO!. So I got the remote control & turned it off a 3rd time! Then he turned his head around to look at me Then he said "Ohh, I might have guessed!!!. He went to the toilet & programmed him up for him. I thought I was going to be incontinent. I was laughing that hard! John
