Does anyone use this? I’ve just enabled it but not yet used, so no idea how easy or complicated it is. Computeractive magazine had an article on it, so I plucked up my courage. Harvey was not keen, saying it was another gateway for crooks. Best Susan

I haven’t tried it. Seen the young people all using it. Being promoted as being a more secure way to pay - no one has your physical card to rip off. I haven’t enabled it — got nagging sign to set it up on Sys Prefs. Frankly not investigated it but should.

Apple Pay is great. ?It is a contactless system, effectively, with no limit on expenditure. ?I have both debit and credit (Visa) cards on my iPhone for Apple Pay; I can therefore pay for goods online where the facility is enabled, allowing me to avoid PayPal. ?Apple Pay does not invalidate your Section 75 credit card protection, whereas PP does.

That sounds like good news! I did try using it today, in my local Sainsbury’s café, but when asked to put in a Passcode, I had no idea what to do. Is this your phone’s passcode, the one you enter to start it up? I cancelled and just paid with my card in the usual way but obviously want to be able to use AP. I shall get there in the end… ? Best

Yes I think it would be your phone’s pass code - probably does it past a certain amount like the card machines do.

I ended up texting my daughter and it seems all three of them use it, so she put me right, that it is indeed the phone’s passcode. Why they couldn’t just say that, I have no idea. Best

I must confess, I did resign myself to that not working, although I think there is an alternative Face ID you can set up for a mask. I have not tried it yet but as things are grinding on it may become necessary. Best Susan

I have just added Face ID to Apple Pay but of course have yet to complete a purchase with it. I’ve already paid for the new iPad we plan to collect on Monday. Harvey is to take over my current iPad Air 2, as he took over my previous iPad Air when I bought the 2!
I have not so far had a problem with using Face ID but I only have it on my iPhone, not my iPad; I never thought of using it for that, as I don’t use it to make purchases or browse my bank accounts. Best
