I have just added Face ID to Apple Pay but of course have yet to complete a purchase with it. I¡¯ve already paid for the new iPad we plan to collect on Monday. Harvey is to take over my current iPad Air 2, as he took over my previous iPad Air when I bought the 2!
I have not so far had a problem with using Face ID but I only have it on my iPhone, not my iPad; I never thought of using it for that, as I don¡¯t use it to make purchases or browse my bank accounts.

When I set up my new iPad Pro I just had to lay my iPhone on top of it and it did it all itself ¡ª plus I set up the keypad as I figured the face recognition would be a nonsense, and I also had learned it only worked vertical. ?I just think its a bit daft to remove the thumbprint thing because it works just fine.

I set up keypad numbers for our phones. ?
The SE Phones still have home button thank goodness and fingerprint recognition.
One of the recent updates was supposed to take into account mask wearing for items that rely on face recognition.?

?I have found that Touch ID has been removed from iPhones without a Home button but may be reintroduced in a future model; my XR has only Face ID, which is not much use when you have a mask on!

How do you set up Touch ID? I have Face ID for my bank but my XR doesn¡¯t have, as far as I can see, a place to plant my fingerprint. ?That would be handier than Face ID if I¡¯m wearing a mask.Best

Yes, your iPhone¡¯s passcode. ?I have Touch ID set up so it just use that.

That sounds like good news! I did try using it today, in my local Sainsbury¡¯s caf¨¦, but when asked to put in a Passcode, I had no idea what to do. Is this your phone¡¯s passcode, the one you enter to start it up? I cancelled and just paid with my card in the usual way but obviously want to be able to use AP. I shall get there in the end¡ ?Best

Apple Pay is great. ?It is a contactless system, effectively, with no limit on expenditure. ?I have both debit and credit (Visa) cards on my iPhone for Apple Pay; I can therefore pay for goods online where the facility is enabled, allowing me to avoid PayPal. ?Apple Pay does not invalidate your Section 75 credit card protection, whereas PP does.

I haven¡¯t tried it. Seen the young people all using it. Being promoted as being a more secure way to pay - no one has your physical card to rip off.?I haven¡¯t enabled it ¡ª got nagging sign to set it up on Sys Prefs.
