Re: TV on mac
Try august website. They say this is iOS compatible. I would check carefully, something about 2019: August Portable Freeview TV for iOS and Android DVB-T405 - Watch and Record Live Freeview on Phones and Tablets/No Mobile Data or WiFi Required - Rechargeable Battery

TV on mac
Dear All, I've posted this question to anumber of sites/people, but can't seem to get anywhere. I've gone round & round for 3 weeks. For over 10 years I had an Elgato EyeTV stick, which connected to my iMac, then to the roof aerial, so I could record TV on my iMac. The company (Elgato), I gather, has been taken over & customer service seems to have gone downhill. I wondered if anyone knows of any hardware like this, that can take a coaxial aerial & then connect to my iMac by USB 2 or 3, to give me TV (preferably HD Freeview) on my iMac. iMac details: iMac Pro, 3GHz 10-core Intel Xeon W, 64 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 memory, Radeon Pro Vega 64X 16 GB, or if you know a supplier who does? Seen a few variants on this technology, but no one seems to be able to tell me if it work with a 64 bit mac. John |
Good news & Bad news re covid
Dear All, I suppose it ?was inevitable we would get some good & bad news. All good is that vaccination reduces mortality, symptoms, hospitalisation & transmission. The bad news is how fast this thing mutates. 'Flu usually takes one year to the next to mutate. We've seen ?3major variants in a year. They all seem to be funnelling to E484K at the moment, but what if something very novel occurs, we could be back to square one. Please remember all, it takes at least 3 weeks to get 67% immunity; this is not a licence to go on a group hug. Regards John |
Digital art on iPad.
One of the locals asked about lessons for his girl on the iPad and was showing illustration of the app called Procreate. Others in the district chimed in for their 15-16 year olds.?
Anyone use Procreate on iPad ?? I have messaged a friend who is a graphic designer and teaches at QUT in Brisbane and she doesn't know of anyone teaching digital art in the city. I rang Apple Chermside they weren't too helpful but did say Carindale other side of town was starting up on the third of Feb for a half hour sesson on art..... but it was a one off....and Apple's lessons are not too helpful I found. Beside whih who wants to sit on their horrid wooden chairs at horrid sharp wooden tables :-) I messaged one chap I found who was doing a course on Procreate on iPad Pro for $160 -- he's fully booked and doesn't take children.? There's obviously a great paucity of tuition for kids re iPads. I have found a lead on a lady who taught graphic design on iPad Pro ?at a school on the Gold Coast ---so I made a note of that -- she looks like the goods. But whether she does anything outside of the education sphere is hard to judge. I did find a good tutorial starter on the programme ...... I sort of started to get interested as a non iPad owner. ?I reckon I could make a go of that.? There are online courses but I think parents wanted somewhere to take kids to participate and make it a regular thing.? Anyone have any thoughts re iPad Pro models or the software I mentioned? Jude |
Re: surfing duck
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes saw that. People got a surprise of a Kangaroo turning up for a dip on one of the beaches. We have had a koala just turn up in one of our front paddocks so I have warned locals to slow going past our properties in case its crossing the road.? The new neighbours who have moved in on one of our blocks behind us spotted in when they were going for an afternoon walk. Jude |
Re: Have you tried turning it off & on again?
To lighten the tone, not sure if I've told you this before. My father was programming the video recorder & he got down on his knees in front of it to do this. You've got to bear in mind he was born in 1928 & crystal radio sets were state of the art. He programmed it up, with channel, date, time etc. Then it turned off! & he said? "Well what happened there?" Meanwhile, I'd got the remote control in my hands & my mother beside me vigorously shaking her head & mouthing NO! Then he programmed it up a second time & it turned off again! He said: "Well, that was strange!" It was bloody tough because I was in contortions with laughter, but had to stay silent. Then he programmed it up a third time! Of course it turned off again, but this time he slowly turned his head around to see me with the remote control & he said: "Ouh, I might have guessed!" Obviously, I then programmed it up for him. Mum & I had had our fun! John

Re: Hi
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJude,Loved your keyboard references! ?I have a couple of old wired white Mac keyboards as well as the short Bluetooth one that came with my 8 year old iMac (can it really be that old?? April 2014¡wow). ?There is a black wired one that I bought more recently, to use with my EverQuest game; it¡¯s illuminated and is set to cycle through the colours, so, very cool! We bought a number pad one year, at the Mac shop in Innsbruck, and that one fits neatly on the end of my short Bluetooth.
