Re: Happy New Year all

Bad luck, Jude! ?Our two sons started the New Year with C-19 but each is recovering. ?We’re remaining cautious and wary.

But here’s to a happier year overall. ?I plan to get myself a iPad Pro to replace my 2019 Air, but the keyboard adds a bit of a sting to the price – perhaps I don’t need one . . .

Happy New Year to all.

Hello John and a happy Christmas too. ?I’m afraid I don’t seem to have succeeded in getting you back into the Cafe group, even though I did try, and I am still unsure what I did wrong! ?Try Tag, if you have access to his email.

My MBPro has the T2 chip but my ageing iMac does not so no dubious updates going onto that.

I’m actually looking at the latest Kindle, after all. ?I can part-exchange my old one for a song ("up to ?15"); the new one is not quite out yet so there is no rush. I still have my original packaging, believe it or not; we tend to squirrel that sort of thing away in the loft. I do note your comment about DRM but that has not been a hindrance so far, so I shall probably just hold my nose and go for it some time this week. Yes, Bezos has *far* too much money and pays his employees poorly, from what I have read, but I don’t see *this* “government” coming down on exploitation or tax avoidance. /sigh

The backlight is subtle enough to use in bed at night with the lights out and I therefore don’t disturb my wife if I can’t sleep.

Kindle is locked DRM files. Nuisance. I bought a book about Pages thinking it might further my knowledge at the time -- but can't move it from the Kindle app. But I'm way past that book now anyway.
