Re: Happy New Year all
开云体育Bad luck, Jude! ?Our two sons started the New Year with C-19 but each is recovering. ?We’re remaining cautious and wary. But here’s to a happier year overall. ?I plan to get myself a iPad Pro to replace my 2019 Air, but the keyboard adds a bit of a sting to the price – perhaps I don’t need one . . . Happy New Year to all. Chris

Happy New Year all
I'm not happy with 2022 -- the pool filter has blown its stack and there goes $2000 to fix, and I think the fridge is starting to fail and I discovered there is a world wide shortage of fridges!!
Apart from that all good down here. ?I am still awaiting consult with an immunologist as to whether I can have vax or not. My poor opthalmologist suffered rather badly with Pfizer vax. First one a giant headache. Second one put him in bed for a fortnight and still not well, and he's even talking retirement. ?So I may lose yet another opthalmologist. But we're still here to talk about it, and I have the iPad Pro to play with. I installed Paprika and been converting a stack of printed recipes into its database. Hope you've made a good start to the year !? Regards Jude? |

开云体育Hello John and a happy Christmas too. ?I’m afraid I don’t seem to have succeeded in getting you back into the Cafe group, even though I did try, and I am still unsure what I did wrong! ?Try Tag, if you have access to his email. All the best, Susan On 25 May 2021, at 04:40, John Miller via <johnmiller051118@...> wrote: I think you are more right than you know!. Re: Another New MacOS?
My MBPro has the T2 chip but my ageing iMac does not so no dubious updates going onto that.

I’ve had Monterey on my 2019 iMac and 2017 MacBook for three weeks now with no ill effects. All works as it should and the new gizmos are decent. Chris On 20 Nov 2021, at 21:10, Judith Hall <glenidol@...> wrote: |

I am sitting on Big Sur for the time being. There have been reports of iMacs being bricked by Monterey particularly the ones with the T2 chip — which mine is.

Our President of local group has put it on the club’s Mac Mini and had no problems. He did it to get a look and keep it up to date for if/when we manage to get back into a hall meeting post covid. I like everyone else to figure the bugs. It all seems rather rushed and Apple used to be more thorough it seems to me before they let things loose on us — now we seem to get a lot of updates like things are half -baked in the first place. 开云体育Oh gosh, sorry, I had not noticed that John was stranded yet again! I usually get an email that I respond to but that has not happened this time. ?I’ll have to check. ?Thanks for the alert!Best Susan

adding a sketch in ios mail
I discovered yesterday you could add a sketch into emails in IOS on the new iPad.... somewhat hilarious... but could see it might be useful for the odd diagram
Problem is it only gives you the bare sketch tools like you might get in Notes - so not like you can do a "Michael Angelo -blow you out of the water" art work :-)? Jude |

开云体育Susan, Tag Can you help John get back into the group? Cheers Chris

Re: Digital Readers
开云体育I’m actually looking at the latest Kindle, after all. ?I can part-exchange my old one for a song ("up to ?15"); the new one is not quite out yet so there is no rush. I still have my original packaging, believe it or not; we tend to squirrel that sort of thing away in the loft. I do note your comment about DRM but that has not been a hindrance so far, so I shall probably just hold my nose and go for it some time this week. Yes, Bezos has *far* too much money and pays his employees poorly, from what I have read, but I don’t see *this* “government” coming down on exploitation or tax avoidance. /sighBest Susan On 18 Oct 2021, at 23:16, Purler <susan.platter@...> wrote: Thank you kindly! ?One thing I don’t know is whether you can download any book to any machine but that is something I can check. ?My Kindle was not an expensive one for the time, ?80 from Staples, so not even purchased from Amazon. Re: Digital Readers
开云体育I would feel the same but I do have three different apps on my iPad, so if I chose one make and it was not supported as far as I’d like I would still have those apps available. ?I’m not going to rush into a purchase anyway but I appreciate all your comments.Best Susan
