There is a similar movie about children sent to Australia who were told their parents were dead etc - think its on you tube - disgrace to both British and Australian govts. DNA is making things very interesting - genie out of the bottle as they say.

I was lucky to get adopted quite quickly, by a middle class couple in their early 40s. I never did any research until my adoptive mother had died, in 1988, ?too late to meet my birth mother who, apparently, had always wanted to have news of me but that was not allowed. ?The very helpful social worker (you had to do it that way) let me take away and copy my adoption file, amazing! ?Sad fact from that file: wartime paper shortage meant re-use of carbon copies (remember those?!) and my file revealed that a baby offered for adoption had been returned (Ye gods, like an unwanted parcel!) because she had eczema and the would-be parents wanted a baby who was ¡°perfect¡±. This was on the back of a letter about me. Makes you think. I did eventually find some relatives on both sides of the ¡°pond¡± and even met some cousins in real life, rather than just online.
What brought all this on? Well, on the radio is a programme about small children from the poorest families sent to Canada for ¡°indentured servitude¡±; this was still going on in the sixties! Now, the Tories want to do away with Inheritance Tax, which will benefit the richest in the land. Sorry, this all makes me very angry! ?Calm down, woman! ?:D Best, Susan
If you read about Steve ?he didn¡¯t have it jammy in life - his real rather refused to acknowledge paternity. From what I read about he headset it ill be around the $5000 Aus when it gets here and it¡¯s not like it can be handed around in a family - has to be calibrated to the wearer.?
But who knows¡.I might get rash. ?:-) We¡¯re only here once as they say.

I know very little about Tim Cook but I do get the impression that he is a money man, not inspirational. Of course, Steve Jobs was not Mister Empathy, from all reports and from the biography by Walter Jacobson (?), but he did at least make sure that most Apple products were fit for release. ?This new 3D gadget looks dubious but could be magic, who knows? ? Harvey always mentions the Newton, when it comes to checking new products are good to go! Best, Susan
I have avoided Ventura up to now ¡ª quit a few of local club members feel the same as me - don¡¯t really want to go to something that behaves more like the iPad. But I may have to contemplate sooner or later I guess.Us iMac lovers let down again at WWDC ¡ª the ay its looking you feel sooner or later they will just let the computer end go entirely. ?Until we get someone other than Tim Cook beancounter in charge we¡¯re not likely to see our wishes taken into account. I detest the man ¡ª he¡¯s strictly a bottom line figures man. Doesn¡¯t have Steve¡¯s vision.?

Hello Jude!
I note your technique of going to your webmail; I only tried that once and the font was so tiny I never did it again. I may have another look, though. ?The junk that I got was not just the ordinary sort, but plainly malicious and, I would guess, designed to spread malware through something weird that I could see it was carrying, hence my inability to send it myself, so that just begs the question!
If you are using Ventura, I¡¯d be interested to hear your reactions. I think I read that Apple want to make their OS and iOS more alike. I must admit to being taken by surprise by Ventura, as it looked so different. This MBPro, for example, is still on Catalina and my iMac (still waiting to hear if it can be saved) was in High Sierra. ?I suppose, really, there is not much point in a new OS if it doesn¡¯t differ much from the old one, something like the forthcoming Windows 12. Hello stranger! :)I¡¯m sure you¡¯re right about Action Fraud being underfunded but my worry was that these obviously potentially harmful emails got into my Inbox yet could not be sent on out again. If I get any more like that, I may ring Zen directly to find out why this happens. Their customer support is prompt and knowledgeable but I¡¯m not always good at explaining my problems. ?While setting up my new Mini, I noticed that the setup instructions when we were transferring from BTInternet were dated 1993! ?I kept it because it had our username and other details - on paper, remember that old material? :D?Best,SusanOn 7 Jun 2023, at 18:33, zuiko <ftog@...> wrote:Hi Susan!I hear you :-) ?I¡¯m getting spam/phishing emails, e.g. TV License (sic) expired, ?but they¡¯re going to my Junk folder automatically. ?I¡¯m not trying to forward them to anyone.Given that the Government¡¯s commitment to online security is sketchy at best (Action Fraud weekdays business hours only, for instance), I¡¯d be willing to bet that the phishing department is understaffed and underfunded.CheersChrisOn 7 Jun 2023, at 15:36, Purler <susan.platter@...> wrote:
Hello (Is there anybody there¡?)
A larger than usual number of suspicious emails has been coming my way recently. ?Usually, I can forward them to?report@...?but a number of them have refused to be forwarded; these look as if they are loaded with something potentially harmful. I am in contact with Zen Internet about these but had deleted them already because they ensconced themselves in an Outbox and kept popping up when I was sending email, so could not be ignored. ?Anything like this happening at your end of the table? ?What I am wondering is: how did they get through to me if I cannot forward them onwards?!
