My husband tells me I am not normal. He says "you do realise not everyone just loads software and just gets on with it¡±¡. and I reply when in doubt look at the manual :-)
But in the next breath he will criticise me for the research I do before I actually buy anything.?
I do point out my skills at just grasping things has earned us a lot of money.
Years back I started a ten week course on Pagemaker. First night I got home 10pm at night and he opened the door before I could get to the handle¡. handed me some A4s and said " I¡¯ve made you a pot of tea see what you can do with this¡±.

I said something like ¡°Fair go. I¡¯ve only just learned how to cut ?up text.¡± But I did it.?

That first layout in Pagemaker got him a $30,000 job. I was told the person who received the proposal asked how it was done and he replied ¡° On a Mac¡±¡..not exactly a lie.
?Next layout I did got a $170,000 contract for him and a colleague paid out in $10,000 increments. Sort of rather set us up really at the time¡. and all done on a second hand Mac

You remind me of the way Harvey talks to be about computer stuff - remember that exchange in The Hitchhiker¡¯s Guide to the Galaxy: Arthur Dent: ¡°I wish I¡¯d listened to the things my mother used to tell me.¡± ?Ford Prefect: ¡°What did she tell you?¡± ?Arthur: ¡°I don¡¯t know, I didn¡¯t listen!¡±

It has good connect-ability so worth doing - besides which he doesn¡¯t do all the things I do with mine - new technology frankly wasted on him :-) and he gets nagged about taking care of it when it gets carted all over the house.?

I do say you¡¯ll ruin that thing and you¡¯ll be sorry (doesn¡¯t quite have the reverence I do) ?¡ and I can see he¡¯ll be looking to use my Mac while it¡¯s gone :-)?

If it¡¯s a bigger problem then yes would have to do replacement.

?Just spent $10,000 on his new blue tooth capable rechargeable hearing aids ¡ which sort of need a smart phone to go with them that he doesn¡¯t have and has resisted up to now. That price makes Mac spending look skimpy :-)

?I¡¯m impressed, Jude, that you¡¯re going for repair rather than replacement. ?I always intend to go for replacement but then get seduced by new tech . . .

But my current MacBook 12¡± Retina, bought in 2017, has had two replacement keyboards and the battery¡¯s capacity is still around 85% so I¡¯m planning to keep it. ?They don¡¯t make a small computer like that any longer, having started the MacBook Air line again, but with a 13¡± screen.

I did check in on Apple website about recalls etc re this MacBook 2015 vintage and it bobbed up and said it had already had repairs...... and jogging our combined memories it did have a battery replaced under a previous Apple recall.?
So looks like we are up for diagnosis to see if it's a frayed cable and possible battery. Battery would be easy solution, if it was to be motherboard might not be in the running for repair. Thanks for the reminder ?:-)?
