One more bit of clarification on when the new Copilot M365 Rate will kick in

I just got a notification in OneDrive on Android saying that the price increase if you don't downgrade to Classic service level will be at your next renewal date after February 20, 2025.
?
So those with a renewal date before that date will have a bit over a full year to play with the Copilot enabled M365.
?
You can do the downgrade earlier, but it kicks in at your renewal date.

What does it say?

Will it deffenitly kick in then, or could that be country specific as well?

Best regards,

Muhammad.

Muhammed,
?
I came very close to quoting the message verbatim, but since you ask: "Starting on your next billing date after February 20, 2025."
?
Above that are an entry for Your Plan, New Price, Current price.? Oddly enough, in the Android app it's quoting monthly rates even though my subscription is on an annual basis.
?
My main point was making people aware that February 20, 2026, is the absolute "drop dead" date for everyone to have made their choices between now and then.? Billing dates are entirely dependent on when you signed up for M365 in the first place.
?
And to all:? I do not read Microsoft's mind.? I will not speak to whether or not there will be differences based upon the market/country you reside in.? It's up to you to keep an eye out for what any notices you might get are telling you.? Each of us only gets notices for our own respective markets.? Some of these may end up being applicable everywhere, others not.

I wonder if that is why I got a message out of the blue telling me my billing date was now February 23 2025 (where it should have been January 23 this year)?? Perhaps they realised they fell foul of some rule requiring a certain amount of notice and the easiest workaround was just push the date back, BUT since everyone now knew about it, to simply add on a month in the meantime for those of us due to renew before Feb 20 rather than give us a full extra year at the cheaper rate...

Interesting.? I would have thought that anyone who's billing date was between 2025-01-01 and 2025-02-20 would have simply been given the whole year as a trial through their 2026 billing date.? Even a bump from January 2025 to February 2025 only gives those so affected a couple of weeks to play with the new Copilot enabled M365.
?
Of course, that presumes that the dates reported to me, and applicable in the USA, will also be applicable elsewhere.
?
The only thing that I consider a huge screw-up about this whole trial is not that it was an automatic upgrade, as you want as many customers as possible playing with new integrated Copilot in hopes they'll "get hooked on it," but that at the end of the trial there would be an automatic downgrade back to Classic or, at the very least, if not automatic you would still have to opt-in to your chosen service level based on a dialog you'd be presented with at end of trial.
?
I know that there are great hopes on Microsoft's part that typical user inertia will hold sway and that many will just allow the upgraded service level to become permanent (or at least require them to switch after the fact) at the next subscription renewal billing.? And I doubt they'll pro-rate for partial year changes even if they allow the actual service itself to downgrade in mid-cycle.
?
We're just all going to have to keep our metaphorical eyes open and ears peeled to the various bits of information that are bound to be fed in dribs and drabs throughout the duration of the trial before one's own next billing date.

Thus, to further complicate matters, my 60 credits have been depleted. I was unaware that I even had a limit. This occurred while I was in the middle of drafting. I do not wish to upgrade to the Pro plan for an additional $20. While my 60 credits will reset on February 1, 2025, if I run out, I am unable to purchase additional credits to replenish my balance until the month has ended, nor can I reserve credits for future use. I find some aspects of this system unsatisfactory, as I frequently process brief documents through Copilot to enhance clarity. This practice significantly reduces the time and effort required for editing. These are my thoughts on the matter.

Thanks and happy Thursday.

The very first announcement on this very group about the trial, by Leo Bado, made it pretty darned clear that monthly credits were involved both in its title and in the materials referenced in the message: ?"M365 subscribers now have access to Copilot AI features through credits."

While I agree with both Sarah (it is frustrating to have a limitation in 60 credits) and Brian (you get what you pay for) - I did have one practical question - is there a quick way of actually seeing how many credits you have left?

I managed to find it the other day, and to be honest, I can't even find it now - they certainly don't make it easy to find.

Ok found it - encourages me to sign up for Copilot pro to unlock more credits....? ?But I need to go to the "Manage" link on the page to find out how many credits I have left.

Interesting. Microsoft sent me an email on the 19th of January, saying that my renewal would be due on the 18th of February. I guess if someone renewed in December, maybe they get the better part of the year with the 60 Copilot credits a month for free?

Honestly, I believe that when it comes to rising the price, Microsoft is handling things different for different plans, users, and regions. I got the same e-mail around the same day you did, but in my case it didn’t announce any increase in my monthly subscription plan, and the billing info still indicates the same price.

Leo,
?
That is a bit of a shock.? You're the first M365 User I've heard from, worldwide, that did not have the new rate show.? I would be curious what you find if you go to your Microsoft Account page, subscriptions pane: ??
?
Mine has even been updated since I first checked to make the new rate appear in far larger, boldface type.? In my specific case, it reads:
Recurring billing on
$129.99?Every year?plus applicable taxes
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
I'm intentionally not downgrading until it's right up to the wire just to see if I get email communications as the renewal date draws near telling me that if I want to keep the services I currently have I should sign up for Classic service level.
?
The change was announced by Microsoft to be worldwide, which is why this is even more surprising.

Yes, up to now I believe that the rate won’t be increase for Costa Rican consumer users since the e-mail only indicated the Copilot benefits implemented for my personal plan, an nothing about increasing the price. I will keep the list updated, but as I explained few weeks ago, this wouldn’t be the first time they change or keep the subscription fee only for Costa Rica. Last time it happened a couple of years ago, when they lower the cost and they didn’t do it for other Latin American countries. I know this first-hand because I speak with folks from many countries.

?

As for double checking on the Microsoft personal account website, yes, I’m continuously doing it every other day to see any update, but up to now, I will probably pay the same although my credits were refilled on February 1st.
