Addresses autocomplete

Hi

I'm using Outlook 2016, not sure which version of Office as I've had this pC
since November 2017, may well be version 2013. I notice that since the
update to Windows 10 to the latest version a few days ago, autocompletion of
address when sending emails in Outlook 2016 seems to have changed as it
doesn't always say anything when I type in a name and address or only says
after the first two letters whereas before frequently used addresses said
this, especially if people have more than one address, not sure what I need
to do.

Thanks.

Help with spell checker in Word please thanks

Hi list

I am currently using Microsoft Office 2016 I think and since the new update
in Windows 10 I notice that in Word 2016, whenever I want to check spelling
and grammar in a document I've transcribed, it asks me to review all
results, read original sentence etc and there seems to be no way to change
and change all in case of errors and can't find word suggestions, only
definitions and it doesn't say "not in dictionary" as it still does in
Outlook 2016 when I press F7, last time this happened, about a year ago
after the update, some on another list said there is not much one can do and
others said there is but I can't find the answers though I stored them
somewhere, I restarted the PC last time and the spell check in Word 2016
went back to normal after three days but hasn't this time, no such hassles
in Outlook 2016 though, not sure how to fix it.

Thanks.

Re: Navigating by Section

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello Mike,

?

One thing you can do is use either function key 5 or CTRL with G, type in the letter S followed by the section number you want to go to and then press enter key.? If you use the letter S followed by a plus or minus sign followed by a number you will move by the number of sections you specified.? For example, if you are in section 2 and you press F5 and type in S+3, when you press enter key you will be at the beginning of section 5.? If you are in section 5 and you type S followed by a minus and the number 2 you will be taken to the beginning of section 3 when you press enter key.?

?

Take care.

Hi All,

Has anyone ever navigated a Large Word 2016 DOCX file by section?? I've never heard of a keystroke to navigate by section and would like to know if it can be done.? If anyone has information on section navigation for Jaws 2018 and up and Word 2016, would you please share?? All help is greatly appreciated.? Thanks much.

Re: Navigating by Section

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

You can do this by using the ¡°Go To¡± utility in MS Word.
Open the Go To dialog using CTRL + G..
Beware that the Go To utility is a floating dialog, that remains open while in use. ?You will need to use CTRL + Tab, to move between the dialog and the document. ?When finished using the Go To utility, return focus to the Go To utility, and close it using CTRL + F4.

Re: How to Create Lists in Microsoft word

Thank you Negoslav, you are indeed correct!? I shouldn't try to answer questions late at night.? To be honest, I only ever use * or 1) or 1. or a. to start a list, I never use the shortcut keys so I actually opened Word to check - I pressed control+alt+l first and I admit I was surprised it worked - I assumed Microsoft must have listened to the feedback that it was inconsistent to have a shortcut for bulleted lists but not numbered lists. - I didn't test it enough to realise that it didn't actually create a list, but only numbered the current item (and indeed if you do it after creating a bulleted list, it adds a new bullet rather than a number).

Kind regards

Quentin.

On the other hand, mentioning the name of the program as the first
word in the subject does help. I don't use Outlook; I much prefer

David,

Thanks for reiterating the importance of subject lines. I get so many emails per day that the only practical way to manage them is by subject. I immediately delete posts with subjects such as Question or Help needed. It really only takes a few extra seconds to type a subject with some specific detail and it really makes managing emails and archives much easier.

Hi Rick,

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Yes, I do select text before trying to insert a comment by using the Control+Shift and left or right aros. Jaws tells me what is selected.

My comments seem to be set to display in balloons.

A large part of my problem seems to be that the comment pane is disappearing way too fast, and without my having to press escape. It sometimes happens before i can even begin to type. For instance, I select text, press Control+Alt+m, and Jaws tells me I'm inserting a comment. Then, often? within a very few seconds, perhaps two or less, the pane disappears and I'm put back in the main body of the document, and a blank comment was inserted and the comment i meant to type is placed to
the right of what I selected.

Any ideas?

Hello Ann:

First, the shortcut Control+Alt+m is not a JAWS shortcut but is from word.

Are you selecting text before issuing these shortcut keys so that your comment will be associated with some text in the document?

In NVDA when I press one of these shortcut sequences, NVDA speaks my name followed by "comment, edit level 1." This lets me know that I am in the comment area and what I type ends up in the comment. Then, by pressing ESC, I am returned to the document for editing.

In JAWS, after issuing the insert comment shortcut, JAWS speaks "Inserting comment 0 by ()." Again, I am alerted that I am in a comment for editing.

What happens if you ignore the shortcuts and actually use the ribbon by selecting Alt+R and tabbing to the insert comment button and then pressing the button? If you do this, does it indicate whether this button is enabled or disabled?

How is your version of Word set to display comments? Press Alt+R followed by t and then m to open the show markup dialog to see how comments are displayed. I have mine to display in balloons.

Hi Heather,
Yes there is something like that for Outlook 2016 and 365. They are called profiles. They have to be created through the mail feature in the Windows Control Panel. This way once you create your profiles in the Control Panel then when you launch Outlook you will be presented with a dialog of the available accounts you configured through the mail option in the Control Panel.

Re: Blank comments

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi Rick,

The same thing happens. It still closes on its own.

I found an interesting work around. I can press Insert+Space+z to go in to alternate user directory mode. The comment function works perfectly after this. Until I press that keystroke again and go back to normal operations, that is.

I also use the Leasey program, and now I'm wondering if this is a bug in Leasey and Word.

I am at a loss for why the comments would automatically close. What happens if, after you create this empty comment, the comment closes leaving you with the text still selected, and you press the application key and choose edit comment. Does it stay in the comment box then or does it close after a short period like when you created the comment?

Each time i try and enter a comment in a Word document using either the

Hi Walter,

The easiest way is either
Type 1 then either a full stop or right parenthesis ) and space, then type your first option OR
Type * or - then a space then your first option.

When you press ENTER, Word will automatically create a numbered list or a bulleted list.

You can also press control+alt+l to start a bulleted list, or control+shift+l for a numbered list.

There is more information on lists in the Microsoft Word for NVDA training material from NV Access:?

Kind regards

Quentin.

Conscdering that I was able to get a fully edited transcript turned around on an AppleVis podcast in a few days, I'd say they are not working very hard to make it happen. We make noprofit off of anything we do. The going rate for professional transcription is roughly $75 an audio hour. I guess we now know how little equal access is worth monitarily. Quite sad, isn't it? I've also noticed Hadley doesn't have an issue providing them either.

Vispero was working on including transcripts for training webinars, but I don¡¯t know if they¡¯ve begun to release them yet.

A check of the Freedom Scientific web page should tell you.

Ah, sorry that I somehow missed that. I know that Freedom Scientific offers transcripts for their podcasts but I'm unsure if they do the same for their archived webinars. I doubt that Brian Hartgen offers them.

Heather,

sells two tutorials covering the use of Outlook. I am not certain if they are more applicable to Outlook 2013 but most of the material should be relevant. I have heard that he talks about navigating with shift-tab to move from the list of messages to the list of folders. In later versions of Outlook this has changed to control-shift-tab.

Freedom Scientific released a three-part series of webinars covering Outlook 2016 as well as a skill-building webinar for that same version. There is also a webinar on Outlook from August of 2019. You can from the above link.

Re: Outlook 365 & NVDA 2020.2 jumping around

Hi Jean,

The most common issue like that I can think of is for laptop users with a touch pad under the keyboard - if the touch pad is enabled (as it is by default), then if you move your wrist near it, it can often trigger the mouse to either move or click somewhere unintended.? There should be a way to disable it, but it varies from laptop to laptop.

Kind regards

Quentin.

When I am writing in the message all of a sudden I am in the subject; maybe I am writing the address in the ¡°to:¡± cell and then I am somewhere else.

This happens often.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.
