In Outlook, there is no such thing as the preview pane in the most recent versions of Outlook.? The reading pane is often referred to as the preview pane because that's the name used in some other email clients.? Thunderbird calls it the Message Pane. It exists so that you do not have to open a separate reading window.

Message preview, as I mentioned earlier, is a part of the mailbox itself.? You can turn it on to show the first 1, 2, or 3 lines of a message right in the mailbox message list.? It's completely separate from the Reading Pane.

File Explorer does have a preview pane option (or a details pane option - both take up the same space, so you have one or the other), but Outlook does not.
