Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
Not one to speculate but give a few references here you are Reference 1 http://www.divtecs.com/hv-switches/ Along with a description of "what it does" http://www.divtecs.com/powermod-technology/

Harmonic and intermodulation distortion and rms value
Hello, How is posible to compute harmonic distorsion of a signal in percent and intermodulation distorsion of two input signal ? And rms value o a periodic signal. For rms value I think the program do

Re: Pull-Push transformer for valve amp in LTspice
your primar inductance is to low. low frequency will be atenuated. search o net ,you will find siple formulas for estimate Lprim inductance . estimate about 20H for proper operate in low frequency

Thanks sawreyrw. I solved the problem.

Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
Yea, the current pulse is CRAZY when one dumps a cap charged at 3kV into another cap. I think it those would be blown to smithereens in this application. I could be wrong. Chris KQ6UP

Chris, IXYS makes high voltage (4.5kv) MOSFETs: http://ixapps.ixys.com/DataSheet/DS100498A(IXTA-T02N450HV).pdf http://ixapps.ixys.com/DataSheet/DS100498A(IXTA-T02N450HV).pdf Mouser has them. IXYS has

Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
Stephen, Using IGBTs in series is a bad idea unless you use a good method of making them share the voltage during switching. This is not simple. Rick

Re: problem of encrypt model LM3150
Not that it matters, but your schematic also has the wrong parameters (attributes) for the LM3150 device. The first listed parameter ("LM3150_tina.sub") should be the name of the subcircuit being

Re: problem of encrypt model LM3150
LTspice can read only LTspice-encrypted models. Models that have been encrypted by any other SPICE program, can only be used by the program that encrypted it. Regards, Andy

Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
That does sound intriguing. I am just thinking that a couple hundred watts would be fine. I could just find the time constant where ringing the primary tank just dies out, then -- bam! Dump another

problem of encrypt model LM3150
Dear All, I had an issue to import the encrypt model LM3150 to ltspice, I uploaded the file:LM3150.zip contains models, symbol and test circuit to the temp folder, look for your kindness to help me on

Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
You can use stacked IGBT's much the same way with easier / simpler control, you do need drivers for them and thus you probably should do some analysis. You can get spice models for IGBT's for ltspice,

Re: High Voltage Thryotron/Thyresistor?
Impressive :-) Why is the noise pitched? Edvard Grieg is the composer, not King Crimson. I hope our students know that. -marcel

If you want some real kudos then show your students this though you might have to explain who King Crimson are J In the Hall of the Mountain King played on a pair of Tesla coils.

You need to provide an appropriate drive voltage between the gate and source, not the gate and ground.

I am thinking of designing a Tesla coil with a Thyrotron or a Thyresistor. What are some examples that have a high breakdown voltage, and a relatively fast quench time 1/30 of a second or better. Any
