Simon, congratulations on the Pro Memoria medal. I've noticed in my 2 years of research that getting a medal from Poland isn't easy, be proud. ? ? ? Mark T.

Dear group Please welcome new member Simon who describes himself as "?a mixture of an Investigator, a Historian and a great? admirer of the Polish citizens who suffered so much. fought so hard and whom?I feel ultimately we let down very badly." Simon ?goes on to say he wants to educate people and set the record straight. He is currently engaged in writinga short?book?on the Carpathian Lancers Regiment which will probably be completed in about 2 years time when he retires.?A keen model-maker, ?some of Simon's work is displayed in?the Sikorski Institute ?in the?Cavalry Room at the very top of the building. ? Simon also was instrumental in the erection ?in Grimsby two years ago of?a memorial to the?Carpathian Lancers ?.Around the same
time he began to help a colleague, Jan Kania,?whose father was a Polish paratrooper, to act as Standard Bearers for the?few remaining members of the Lincoln SPK. They continue to do so at many?
events;? Woodhall Spa Arnhem Day, Lincoln Cathedral Battle Of Britain Sunday?and Remembrance Day, Southwell Minster Katyn Service and the Newark Polish?military cemetery Warsaw Air Bridge and All Souls Day ceremonies.
Simon's work, in particular that involving the Carpathian Lancers , resulted in his?being invited to Warsaw last Summer where he?attended the Pantheon Of Great Poles in Wilanow at a formal service at which?a memorial plaque to the Regiment was unveiled, and at the reception?afterwards ?Simon was presented with the Polish government's Pro Memorial medal. Simon, a warm welcome once again and I look forward to reading your postings and hearing of the
progress on your book.
