Granted there was no Israeli army at that time but "Irgun" and "Haghanah" existed, what would be better for them than to encourage any number of Jews in the Polish Army to desert as soon as they get to or near Palestine. The Polish army left USSR late in 1942 and went to Iraq. Large scale fighting between Jews and Arabs in PALESTINE starterd at the end of WWII (1944-45). Israel came into being in 1948. Deserter Begin headed one of the Jewish terrorist organisations - I think it was Irgun. 2000 Jews deserted the Polish army- this is 2.8%. A small number remained.
