Re: HT37 Audio phase shift network and chassis labeling
GIMP (GNU IMAGE MANIPULATION PROGRAM)
Gimp like LibreOffice has been around for a really long time. Just about every Linux distribution comes with Libre Office already installed and Gimp is usually always in the software repository for that distribution. Interesting thing is that GIMP for Windows is available in the Microshaft "Store"? (but since it's open source software, it's free and you're pretty safe getting software from the MS "store" because they won't allow un-virus checked software in there..... This is how nearly ALL Linux software is obtained.? It's in a protected software repository and is ONLY available once it's been cleared as "clean".......Something Microsoft should have been doing all along but only started doing in the last several years. When you think GIMP, Think Photoshop.? The difference is, it doesn't extract money from you......All OpenSource software is this way.? In general, you don't pay to use it. In some cases,? if you want to use it in business, and you want support (for business use) you probably have to pay for that support. It's amazing how many people still think the only game in town is MS. I have been using Linux for my main computer since about 1998.......So? I haven't had to pay the MS tax for many years.? AND NO, there is NO HRD for Linux.? There are logging programs....I stopped keeping a log when the FCC eliminated the requirement. I also have a (Mid 2012) Macbook Pro (Intel Core i5 cpu) ? that I originally bought for my daughter to use in college.? After she graduated, she asked me if I wanted it back.? I said "Sure", I'll try that Mac (not a truck) computer! After a day using the MAC OS, I want to drive my truck over it!? So I replaced the hard drive with a solid state drive and installed Linux on it!? Works much better for me that way and I don't have to ask Steve jobs if I can use it!! (Gimp and Libre Office are also available for the MAC.....did I say for free?) -- 73/Rick WA6III __________________________________ No critters were injured transmitting with Hallicrafters transmitters except the ones that wandered into the final amp cage Bug-Motel!! Re: R-274, SX-73
开云体育The two screws in the metal hub get removed. As is typical,
there is probably a burr on the tuning shaft keeping the knob from pulling off.
You may have to devise a way to hold the tuning shaft and sort of unscrew the
knob from the shaft.
?
Also, the very front of the knob will pop off revealing a nut
that holds the metal hub to the knob. Removing that may
help.

If you can’t get an answer sooner, I’ll be back the week of December 4th and can look into the knob issue. Meanwhile, I have a question for you: My receiver had a busted filament regulator bulb. The manual gives no details about manufacturers part or specifications. I subbed a random part that happens to fit exactly, but I’m pretty sure it is the wrong resistance. Re: HT37 Audio phase shift network and chassis labeling
开云体育Rick; I am glad that you identified the pot with the help from Jim, And I hope you can stimulate others who have Errata data? and any other related info on any radio stuff to copy it and upload it to a site where all can find and access it. When it comes to BAMA, it’s too bad that you didn’t upload yours ?to BAMA’s ?FTTP? site in about 2001 ?when few had scanners, or even USB version 1.1 and something better than dial-up to transfer those big files. Even I can/and could scan good quality letter size paper, but not those wide schematics, and I don’t have a PDF editor that I know of so, I don’t attempt to make a document, but I wish I could. ?The 70 year old manuals I have acquired are yellowed, sometimes printed poorly, often marked up in pencil, or torn, folded/bent; so many would not copy well. I am guilty of using BAMA but not doing my part to support it. I am thankful that they, with help from some users have provided as much as they have. Most would agree that many existing schematics on BAMA are not easy to read, and it would be nice if new manuals with wide schematics, and no defects would be uploaded by those with a wide scanner and capable of doing a good job; and hopefully this could be done for all versions of the manual. 73? don VA3DRL ? Thanks Jim!
I did identify the correct pot and do have the (really poor copies of the) BAMA manuals and schematics! I was more interested in any errata that might have come out on the HT37 after manufacture.? I know they did it on a lot of the other equipment.? When I get time, I send? hi-res 600dpi PDF copies of manuals I have to them so they can replace the crummy DJVU files and other very poorly copied PDF's with sharp PDF's.? It's amazing that people? think they're doing anyone a favor by sending nearly unreadable schematics and manuals to the BAMA!! -- 73/Rick WA6III __________________________________ No critters were injured transmitting with Hallicrafters transmitters except the ones that wandered into the final amp cage Bug-Motel!! Re: HT37 Audio phase shift network and chassis labeling
Greetings to Rick and the Group:
According to the HT-37 schematics posted on the BAMA site, the audio balance pot is R113.?? It is a 500 ohm 4 watt pot.?? Probably wire-wound. On looking more closely at your drawing, I see that there is an "AUDIO AMPL. BAL." which is labeled on the schematic simply as "AUDIO BAL", hence the confusion.?? Probably what you are referring to is labeled on the schematic as "AUDIO PHASE BAL."?? This is R112.?? This is also a 500 ohm pot; wattage not shown on the schematic. Regards, -- Jim T. KB6GM |
HT37 Audio phase shift network and chassis labeling
Howdy all,
I am helping a friend with an HT37 that has a little problem getting the audio phase shift network to balance. He has discovered that one of the pots is at the point where a squirt will no longer get it to work reliably and wants to replace it.? Looking at the chassis labeling, he noticed that it's labeled Audio BAL R12.? It's really NOT R12.? R12 is a screen resistor for the 12BY7.? I guess I am wondering if anyone has an HT37 "Errata" list of all the misprints/mislabeling on the schematic and parts list.? I didn't find one in the files section! -- 73/Rick WA6III __________________________________ No critters were injured transmitting with Hallicrafters transmitters except the ones that wandered into the final amp cage Bug-Motel!!
