need a load cap

开云体育

I have an exceptional SR-400, all it needs is a new pa LOAD cap. I would really like to find an original. Its a nice radio that I would like to keep original.

Hi Dave,?

I have both of those radios and could use some original manuals for them. I won't be at Dayton, but am somewhat local to you in Warminster, PA. If you don't get rid of them at Dayton, I'd be interested.

SX 43

Working on a SX 43 and am wondering if others have run into this issue. I have reception on all bands but only when I connect my long wire antenna directly to the RF adjustment pot for the corresponding band. I have not tried to connect my signal generator yet as it’s a little intimidating compared to other simpler radios I’ve aligned.?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. ?

I have replaced the all the caps including the filers.?

Re: HA-1 T.O. Keyer socket gnds

Had a strong 60hz hum in my R-388 after removing and replacing the front panel. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Turned out to be a heater string returning to ground through the frame of the headphone jack. Poor contact due to paint.? Scraped off paint and p ut a star washer on the jack
?No more hum
Key was the frequency.

We sometimes forget that a chassis is often a high-current AC conductor, sometimes carrying several amps of tube heater current.? To Don’s comment, bonding to a single common chassis point often reduces or eliminates induced hum and buzz.?

?

Someone mentioned using balanced heaters and a hum control balancing pot.? That’s excellent advice, but during production, manufacturers would typically wire the heater bus first, then overlay additional wiring like laced cable harnesses.? In many transceivers with dense wiring practices, it’s a real challenge to replace heater wiring with a twisted pair without disrupting components and existing wire runs, even if attempting an overlay.? I once tried to balance a Collins KWM-2A’s heather string but gave up: a point was reached where collateral damage started to occur owing to under-chassis packaging density.?

?

On a positive note, I replaced the AF amps in my Drake R-4B and R-4C receivers.? The goal was to get hum/buzz down to zero with the AF control wide open.? With a screwdriver connected to the AF amp’s ground lead, I wiped across the chassis in search of the lowest hum/buzz level.? I found several points that met this criteria.? Once found, a hole was drilled in the chassis and a solder lug added for the ground connection. ?At these points, AC heater ground current is minimal, sometimes cancelling altogether.?

Hey John,? That's a very common practice in audio gear, naturally, to avoid ground loops.

Steve, had the same problem with a 32S-1.? I used a pair of needle nosed pliers and squeezed the center contact connector fingers closer together. Worked fine.? k6lr?

I replaced the RCA jack with a BNC jack in My Heathkit rigs.? My Henry 1KD-5 amp also came with a BNC jack on the input side.

Probably a long shot but I was wondering if anybody here might have a back panel for a P-2000 power supply that they would be willing to part with??
