Re: SX-110 History

开云体育

There was a change in industrial design standards during the late 1950s. The solid massive designs of the Post war era gave way to lighter designs that symbolized the Jet Age. This change occurred in every industrial design, cars, planes, radio, production machinery. The SX-110 and the S-108 are beautiful examples of this change in Art Style.
Light, fast and sleek. The electronics were undergoing a similar upgrade at this time.

Steve,
I'd like to read your article!
I did have one back in the day, it was used when we got it.
I am pretty sure it is just an SX-99 with a new modern style cabinet.. well with a slide rule
dial too which is pretty similar to the SX-101 and its modern style version the SX-111.
Now the SX-99 was a cheapened, electrically different version of the better SX-96/SX-100,
but using their same styling.
The S-85 is an SX-99 without the S meter and XTAL filter.
The S-108 is an SX-110 without the S meter and XTAL filter.
Just a marketing thing...

Hallicrafter HT-32B and SX-115

Paul Schmitt

My father, WA3ITL (SK) many years ago gave me his Hallicrafter HT-32B, SX-115, a Hickok tube tester a complete set of spare tubes and other cables and accessories with instructions to give it to the next ham when I am done with them.? Not to sell them but give them to someone who would appreciate and care for these radios.? These radios have sat in my basement for many years as I didn't have the time for ham radio.? Now, I do not have the space for them.? ?They need some work done to make them functional again.??? To satisfy my dad's request, I am looking for an organization, museum or individual that would appreciate a gift of this nature.? ?Shipping may be a concern, but we can work on that.

Please respond to my email at Paul1.Schmitt2@...

Thanks, Paul....WA3HZP

I sort of remember that there may have been cooling thing on the center pin of the original PL-172 in my HT-33B. However, I have not had it now for about 35 years and at 77 my memory is not that great. I still have around 6 or so PL-172/8295 tubes. 73 – Mike

I am looking for a spec. sheet for a Shure CM14N, controlled magnetic (dynamic) microphone. It would have been produced in the late 60's early 70's. It was used on Hallicrafters transceivers; the FM7, Porta Command and the Village radios.?

Also looking for a good source for microphone coiled cords.

Re: H-33B Center Pin Cooling Flag

Looking at the Eimac 8295A data I saw no mention of it.? Is it shown in the Eimac or PL socket data?? Can you post a picture?

H-33B Center Pin Cooling Flag

Anyone know what this is for? WHat does it cool.? It pushes on the center pin that is connected to nothing looking at a 8295 data sheet. The HT33A manual does not mention it. Just curious.

Wow!, That's the prettiest pair I have seen, just beautiful.? Hopefully I can get my 32A/101A back on the air this winter.

Try terminating the HA-5 With a 5.6k and measure the voltage across?the resistor. It needs?to be greater than 20vpp.

Hello guys,

Still looking for some help to get a vintage station operating.

This station does just fine with a xtal but I would like to get the HA-5
operational.
Output with the xtal seems fine around 45 - 50 watts.
When the HA-5 is used I get almost no output, WHY ???

Switching between the XTAL / VFO position doesn't help.

The HA-5 works great when used with my Drake 2-NT.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I would like to use this on AM.

Thanks much,

Dave KC3AM

Thanks, I needed a single box that did it all vs multiple boxes hanging everywhere.

For Sale: Hallicrafters S-36A and RBK-13

I have for sale two Hallicrafters Ultra High Frequency radios.? One is the S-36a and the other one is the military verison, a RBK-13.
Both radios are complete with no mods, or at least I don't see any mods. Both are in good conditions with no extra hole in the chassis or cabinet.? The RBK-13 is dated November 1944 and is serial number 73,? The S-36A is serial number HA50041.
I was going to restore these but decided to make more room for a few other boatanchors that I have collected.? ?No shipping but can arrange a place to meet or pickup at my home in Western North Carolina. if interested I can send Pictures.? Price is $100 each.

That's a nice job with the TR switching box, Randy!

Re: Classic Hallicrafters Station Back Online

I need a cart like that for my HT-33 Mark I? (pair 4CX300A's)? @ 125lbs!

I'm still thinking about replacing the plate transformer, choke, and cap with a Drake L-4PS transformer (35lbs)? and Harbach (L-4B) power supply board.?

The HT33 plate transformer appears to have nearly? twice the iron of the Drake transformer and the choke appears to have nearly as much as the Drake! Might be able to shave 30-50lbs off that thing!
