H-33B Center Pin Cooling Flag

Anyone know what this is for? WHat does it cool.? It pushes on the center pin that is connected to nothing looking at a 8295 data sheet. The HT33A manual does not mention it. Just curious.

Wow!, That's the prettiest pair I have seen, just beautiful.? Hopefully I can get my 32A/101A back on the air this winter.

Try terminating the HA-5 With a 5.6k and measure the voltage across?the resistor. It needs?to be greater than 20vpp.

Subject: [HallicraftersRadios] Another vintage station trying
?
Hello guys,

Still looking for some help to get a vintage station operating.

This station does just fine with a xtal but I would like to get the HA-5
operational.
Output with the xtal seems fine around 45 - 50 watts.
When the HA-5 is used I get almost no output, WHY ???

Switching between the XTAL / VFO position doesn't help.

The HA-5 works great when used with my Drake 2-NT.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I would like to use this on AM.

Thanks much,

Dave KC3AM

Re: Classic Hallicrafters Station Back Online

Thanks, I needed a single box that did it all vs multiple boxes hanging everywhere.

For Sale: Hallicrafters S-36A and RBK-13

I have for sale two Hallicrafters Ultra High Frequency radios.? One is the S-36a and the other one is the military verison, a RBK-13.
Both radios are complete with no mods, or at least I don't see any mods. Both are in good conditions with no extra hole in the chassis or cabinet.? The RBK-13 is dated November 1944 and is serial number 73,? The S-36A is serial number HA50041.
I was going to restore these but decided to make more room for a few other boatanchors that I have collected.? ?No shipping but can arrange a place to meet or pickup at my home in Western North Carolina. if interested I can send Pictures.? Price is $100 each.

I did something simpler in the “Key Line” switching.

That's a nice job with the TR switching box, Randy!

Things get complicated quickly with old stations :-)

Re: Classic Hallicrafters Station Back Online

I need a cart like that for my HT-33 Mark I? (pair 4CX300A's)? @ 125lbs!

I'm still thinking about replacing the plate transformer, choke, and cap with a Drake L-4PS transformer (35lbs)? and Harbach (L-4B) power supply board.?

The HT33 plate transformer appears to have nearly? twice the iron of the Drake transformer and the choke appears to have nearly as much as the Drake! Might be able to shave 30-50lbs off that thing!

Exceptionally clean set.? The '32 looks amazing and of the pair they seem to be the harder beast to find with a clean face.

Hello Bob

I am using email only because I am on a new computer and it does not know my PW, and so? I can’t see which comment you are responding to, but it hardly matters.

I agree with your comment Bob, that ?“ This topic has strayed a long way…”

I plead guilty to being one of the perpetuators of the hijacking

Unfortunately, there are many times that the ADD in us? goes astray, presumably for a moment but then continues and for too long!

How do we fix it? ?I think we don’t want to delete the original title because it was appropriate I think on day 1.

I suppose if I was using firefox to access the thread, I could have? left a reference ?in a reply and started a new topic with an appropriate title.

But one problem is I don’t know if it will be long-winded or not.

I think Richard mentioned difficulty is sorting things out for a ?reference

We should split the stuff about fusing, but it was originally ?reasonably related to the main topic about the pilot light ?I don’t know where we should have stopped. The Electricity comes out of the wall, thru the wires, into switch ,then the transformer and out to the socket and then the buib. ??

I suppose the “GFI”, I guess it is now mostly called “GFCI” stuff should have been ?moved to another thread/topic.

To the extent that I am guilty, please let me know how I/we should do this.

There is the separate problem of trying to use on line as well as emails, I find it hard to look at previous comments and type a reply in the online method. And ?hard to fix? upper case?? Ooops

How and where should we have split this topic?.. and I mean this as a real question.

This topic has strayed a long way from "A Noisy Pilot Light". There is a lot of good information here that no one will find in the future unless the topic is corrected.

My old QTH was built in 2000.? In about 2001 the GFI specs changed.? The earlier ones were
not built for RFI.? When I used to tune up to 100watts on 40meters, all the GFIs in the kitchen
tripped.? I replaced them with the newer ones and that fixed it.
