Sorry, I don't have any experience with the SX42. The Hallicrafters reflector is a good source if you need some insights on the approach and specific issues. 73's, Pete? W8AA?

开云体育Pete,At first I thought Hickory Corners was that TV show that Eddie Albert and Zsa Zsa Gabor starred in back in the 70's (hahahhahaha) Anyway, sure, if that's the way you want to do this.? I will get it off the shelf, dust off, and remove any mouse nests if present (another hahahaha) Pictures when I can, but before your trip . Give it a good home....had it so long I don't even remember where/when I got it. Keep me advised of your travel plans.......I'm right off I-96 at Okemos Road.? Re: Just picked up a nice S-40B - looking for a knob set
开云体育I enjoy pairing my S-40B with an Elmac AF-67 for mostly CW, but some AM. I have "better" receivers, including an R-388, but the S-40B is fun and much easier to haul around if I am setting up portable than are the heavier boat anchors. At age 80 I pay more attention to that sort of thing. ? 73, ? Maynard W6PAP ? ? On Sunday, November 27, 2022 08:58:12 PM you wrote:

Just picked up a nice S-40B - looking for a knob set
I already have a nice SC-40B (Canadian model built by Rogers), and I just picked up a rather nice S-40B for a song on Facebook Marketplace. Nice cabinet, and nice lettering but was a bit greasy and dirty and smelled of smoke. I have now spent two days giving it a thorough cleaning inside and outside. It now looks great and smells neutral.
The owner said he couldn't turn it on. I suspected he didn't know how since it is a bit tricky turning it on with the tone switch, not the more intuitive send/receive switch. Sure enough, after a quick bench visual to make sure nothing was out of sorts, I took a risk and turned it on. It works fine. So now I am going ahead with a full refurbishment and tune-up. Although the knobs are ok. I am missing the Pitch Control knob. Therefore I am looking for at least it or a full set of knobs. Is anyone parting one out an S-40B that can sell me a knob or set? Thanks in advance. |
Re: HT37 Audio phase shift network and chassis labeling
hi again Tom and Rick and others
sorry to be hijacking the original posting? ,however your info is helpful, but back to my original question about sewing two scans of a wide schematic, i was able scan and cut and paste to make one wide image from two.. but so often i could not rotate? that small bit so that a horizontal line from the left image stayed horizontal etc. If I was serious about copying these two or three page schematics, i guess i could build a support just beside the scanner to hold the manual so that the sheet would be firmly against the top of the bed.. but that would be quite a project. I used to use paint to join two images? but? have not been able using the Paint progam on w10,, I just tried it . 73,,don Va3drl |

I have the same problem right now with another Hallicrafters radio.? Hallicrafters used Bristle Head and not Allen Head.? So you needed a Bristle wrench and not an Allen wrench.? Not knowing this, many users tried removing the knobs with Allen wrenches and then when that did not work, tried using whatever destructive tool they had in their shop.? Then you wound up with set screws with flat heads and they set screws could not be removed.? In my case, I am going to buy a cheap set of left hand drills used to remove problematic set screws.? Not sure this will always work, but it's worth a try.?
