Membership restricted workflow confirmation
I own a group for behavioral health providers. Our group is restricted. My question is, do I understand the workflow correctly: People ask to join our group, then they are sent a verification email and I receive both an approval email and a membership pending email. Do I have to do anything with appending membership email or do I just reply to the approval email. |

in other words, I never tested to see if one takes a regular .txt file (saved by Notepad let's say) and changes the extension to let's say .csv or .whatever, if that will still work. I suspect it probably will, I suspect the system code doesn't depend on the actual file extension, it just opens the file in text mode and tries to read it as a regular text file and expects one line per record with the email address (or name <email address>) Well I just tested it and it does work as I suspected, I created a text file with Notepad then changed the extension its extension to .xls and it worked fine, the system doesn't care at all what the file extension is or even if no extension is present, as long as it is an actual text file with UTF-8 encoding. Re: File format for bulk member invites
If you have an xlsx file and the email addresses are in a single column, you can simply open the file in Excel, highlight that column, press <Ctrl>+<C> to copy, then open Notepad and use <Ctrl>+<V> to paste and save it as a .txt. The line breaks should be preserved since each entry is on a different row, and the data should show up in the text file with each email address on a different line. That should import with no issues. I would caution that using other text editors such as WordPad or Notepad++ might cause formatting issues. It's best to use plain Notepad.? If the addresses are in a row instead of a column in the xlsx file, you'll need a formula to add the line breaks, but it's an easy one.? No, if they accept the invitation then their groups.io account is automatically created for them, for either a regular main group or a subgroup. Cheers, Christos |
Re: "New Topic" not showing on sidebar
Karl
?
Suggestion - when members have issues, its helpful to ask whether they are using a
PC (web browser interface) or
An App (and iOS or Android)
A browser (like Chrome or Safari) on a mobile device
And, whether the device is a phone or tablet/pad (and iOS or Android)
?
The displays can be different and there could be acbug in one and not all interfaces) |

I have a group member - his side menu bar does not have the "new topic" option visible.?On a narrow screen (like a phone or tablet) New Topic will be at the bottom of the page. ?
Failing that, he could just be logged in with the wrong email address (or not logged in at all).

Hope this helps,

Re: Delete group email
Hey Merle
?
It MATTERS because your complaint about Groups.io revolves around your perception of lack of support.
?
I.e., you said, ¡°I never got replies to my questions when I sent to the folks. After googling I found this help from other users email.? So what is incomprehensible? I¡¯m confused.¡±
?
If you had just followed the resources on the help page then the issue would have been resolved and you wouldn't have had to ¡°f[ind] this help from other users email¡± you could have gone straight here.?
?
So, I¡¯ll ask again... ?Did you not read the entire page? ?Missed the explanation /links to GMF and here? ?If we don't know why yiu missed it then we can't help Mark make the Help more useful. Additionally we can't help gio/Nina update Help documents if you won't cooperate and explain what ¡°support¡± or info is lacking. ?Gio is very good at reacting to user input but Mark is not a mind reader.? |

I just spent time going thru my junk folder and found quite a few messages from this help group in there, including the one with the info on the change. I marked the email address ¡°safe¡± so hopefully won¡¯t have that issue going forward. Merle On Sun, May 25, 2025 at 2:32?PM KWKloeber via <KWKloeber=[email protected]> wrote:

Because after I spend time looking thru manuals etc from the company I do a Google search.? Did that my entire career as a librarian and we taught the grad students to do the same. What does it matter how I found the info? I immediately found a link that took me to the page in the manual. ? On Sun, May 25, 2025 at 2:39?PM KWKloeber via <KWKloeber=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Delete group email

I?understand that you read the manual - you stated that before. ?I asked about why you relied on an email from your group to find this help forum. ?That seems to be one of the bugs in your bonnet about gio.?
THIS help forum AND the GMF help forum are listed right on the Help Page.? Did you read the entire page? ?
Miss seeing those two resources? Perhaps they need to be ¡°highlighted¡± better on the Help page.? Thx

You are obviously receiving emails from this group because you respond to them.?

I searched all my emails and don¡¯t have one with the info that the option was added. Have you checked your Email Delivery History?? It's possible that it bounced.? Also possible that it was put in another folder.? Gmail loves to be 'helpful' that way.
