I have had member post to the wrong subgroup with atachments etc - 4 replies todate - can I re-direct the whole topic and its attachments to the correct subgroup - barry

Hello! We sometimes have birthday surprises or events for a single person within an email group and we don't want them to see the email. What is the best way to temporarily keep that person from seeing the surprise notice? I tried "none" for owner email, but that failed lol. I don't know if it matters if that person is also a moderator. I appreciate any advice, thank you!

I am the Vice President of the Vintage Radio Control Society. Our president Mike Denest has recently passed away. He was the sole owner and moderator for our group. I would like to transfer the group ownership to me, but I am not familiar with how that could be done. Can anyone advise me? Thank you very much. -- John H.

Hello I'm a long time multiple group owner. I'm 86 and my technical skills are fading. My question is, since I've recently had a change in email addys, is it possible to change to my new email Addy in ALL of my groups at one time? FYI. my old email account can receive but not send emails now, and even receiving will be terminated shortly. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Okay, I know. RTFM – Read The Full Manual. And I did, and again. And then again. And it’s not working for me. I have a thread of 18 messages that I merged into one – and it worked just like it always has. I’ve done this before. Then I figured out that I wanted a different message within this thread to be the ‘lead’ message. So I figured ‘this is easy, I’ll just Split out the one I want as the ‘new lead’, then Merge the remaining 17 back with it…but I cannot get the Split Option to show in the hamburger menu. I’ve played with multiple combinations (followed the instructions “to a T” at least a few times, then tried other combinations) and no been able to get the hamburger to allow the Split option. Obviously, unless I take a video of what I’m doing, or amass a bunch of screen shots, I can’t show you what I’m doing, when, and how. But I can at least ask for help in someone confirming that I should be able to Split one message out of an 18 message Topic. I’ve thought far enough out that if no one can figure out what I’m doing wrong, or that it really won’t work for them either, or there’s another way that I haven’t figured out, I can go in and play with the Message Topics and alter them to attempt to achieve my objective. Good morning, In the process of creating my new group, I invited an initial set of members, then I submitted my new group. Later, when I attempted to add new members, I saw this message: This group has not yet been approved. Once it has been approved, you will be able to post to it. Does this mean I'm only allowed to invite members when I create the group, but I cannot invite additional members until the group is approved? Thank you, Denise

Yesterday, 2025-01-28, a group that I am a member of received a post which had an attachment on it. ( /g/MFCL/message/105719 ) The attachment was a JPG file of approximately 260 Kb. My membership is set to receive all attachments, and the attachment shows in the message I received as a JPG file, and it opened fine on Irfanview on my desktop machine. [ Win11Pro. Firefox, OEClassic Pro Ver 4.9.3, Irfanviex Ver 4.7 (64 bit) ] However, groups.io saved the attachment on the web page (presumably in Photos) as a WEBP file. People who don't accept attachments and prefer links to open them from the web were somewhat concerned because someone stated tht WEBP wasn't as secure of a format as JPG. An extended discussion followed. I'm curious if this is usual or if something has changed. I still have the original in my inbox, but the file on the web site was deleted and replaced with the JPG file I had reposted. Does anyone have any answers regarding this, or is it something I should take to Beta? Dan Stinson

I am a new owner of an old group. I need to check pending messages 4-5 times daily. I use iOS 18.3 and Windows 10. How can I get a link that I can add to home screen on the phone and save as a bookmark on the PC. I have tried copying the URL when I have pending open on the PC and using that URL on the phone but it does not open to showing the pending messages or even showing admin. TIA

I am considering allowing limited personal sales by subscribers of my groups subject related personal completed models, surplus kits or model parts with the enforced condition that the members must only reply to sender and complete their transactions outside of Groups.io. Currently if I freeze a topic after reviewing the initial message and finding a sales message, the reply to sender option is no longer available. I don't want to have to require the original sender to include their email address in the message. Is what I want already available in the current group settings or will this require a software modification. Hi, I already have a groups.io account and am owner of one group. I want to set up a new group with a different email address in the invitation, ie not my groups.io account email address. So potential new members would use the alternative email address to accept the invite. Is this possible? If so how? Thanks

Greetings, I'm the owner of a group that has a set of requirements for membership. I'm cleaning house, removing members who have failed to meet those requirements. There's a possibility that one member may try to retaliate when removed. Can I remove a member without them being notified? AFAICT, the manual doesn't cover this.

I have two members of our group that can't seem to receive emails. Each are the only members with the address of @frontier.com and @tds.net. Is there any sort of known issue with either of those? Thank you, Carolyn Henry
