We get the occasional potential spammer "wanting to join," i.e., hack the group. The "click here to reject" reply in the e-mail from does the job for us. But we are a "secret" group with very limited membership and a strong affinity base rather than a general interest group, so our experiences may differ from yours. I don't think there's any way to stop intruders from probing, but that's how we stop them once they have probed.? What I'm curious about is how they even know we exist if we are indeed a "secret" group. I'd love to hear from the GMF moderators on that; it's not as though our group name is an everyday phrase as it is written in our name. Where do they get it from? Paul co-owner? |

I am a tutorial writer that writes tutorials for people to follow to create stationary to be used in e-mails using PSP. Either using through Incredimail or outlook or any e-mail program that they can put the creations together in to share through their groups. And the main group that those tutorials are shared at? and not sure how they got the address unless if it was because I replied on something they created using one of my tutorials. But never figured or expected anyone to send me an invite to a group they own or run to share stuff as they specify on their groups page.

Cal,
I was wondering if there is a way to prevent from getting invites toAs Duane said, no. If these are one-off invites the simplest thing to do is what the invite itself suggests: "If you are not interested ... please ignore this email." The delete button is your one-click solution. If a group is sending you repeat invitations you might write to them asking them to desist. It is possible that they thought you didn't receive the prior invitations. Ultimately if you think it raises to the level of harassment you could raise it to Groups.io as a violation of the Terms of Service.
