Mike:

Groups.io determines account status (normal/bouncing/bounced) by email address, not by group. You will find your account bounce history at?/account?page=bounces??Whenever I do this, I'm surprised to find how many emails my ISP has filtered out; and my mail domain is supposed to be one of the "good" ones. Good thing I read most of my messages online.

In any event, there are been several reports here in GMF of spectrum/roadrunner throttling back on groups.io email delivery with a series of 400-level bounces. They don't seem to understand that receiving lots of mail from this IP address is to be expected for the kind of service that groups.io provides.?All told, while what you're experiencing is annoying, it does not seem to be unusual. And the typical, flippant answer to the problem is to find a better provider (like mine? not sure about that.)

I hope this helps, but it probably doesn't.

Regards,
Bruce?

Your Spectrum on-line mailbox has settings that can be configured to direct all filtered mail to your on-line inbox rather than to trash/junk. Once that's set, you can read mail on-line or you can download it with an email client and nothing is blocked by Spectrum.

The downside to this approach is that if Spectrum's filter has been catching a lot of real spam, it will now put that spam in your in-box.

I use an email client to download my email and that client has an excellent junk mail filter built in... it learns as it goes and it learns quickly. That feature is pretty much the norm for decent email programs.

Hi Mike, I've had the same problem. But I haven't had in a while. Normally once I clear the bouncing everything starts flowing right back in my mailbox. Occasionally, Spectrum will block group sale from appearing in my email. But more non-often been often pitted as this. I haven't had it happen within the last few months.

More details on bounce handling than you probably ever wanted to know can be found in the system help (/static/help#bouncing).

I have a couple of addresses on my own domain that I have given me absolutely no problems.? I use Thunderbird as an email client and bring all my mail (my domain addresses, as well as my verizon account) into and use a filter to separate them all into folders.? Since AOL handles my Verizon mail, I have to keep a fairly frequent check on that spam folder, but mail from the domain accounts comes through fine.

I've been happy with Dreamhost as a private domain service (both web pages and email). They're good in terms of promptly delivering all my mail to me and that's one of my strictest criteria. One caveat: I use Thunderbird to retrieve my mail from them, their webmail user interface is (IMO) horrid.

Their spam filtering seems pretty good, not too much gets through and, more importantly to me, very few good messages land in the Spam folder. That's after some initial training, like many spam filters it "learns" from you marking messages as spam or not spam.

One odd quirk (or at least it seems odd compared to services like gmail) is that it keeps your Inbox limited. Older messages and too many messages are automatically moved to your old-messages folder. This is seldom a problem when using POP as you would most likely download and delete from the server regularly - but could trip you up if you are a member of some high-volume groups. When using IMAP you just get used to not holding messages in the Inbox, moving messages between on-line and off-line folders as needed.

I don't believe that there is, but I'll admit that I haven't looked very hard. Maybe your favorite search engine will turn up a help page or forum post.

Mike,

I would call their tech support to ask. I have Roadrunner email, which
is now part of Spectrum. Long before the takeover of Time Warner
cable, I got into my email settings and changed the spam filter to
send me all the messages it thinks is spam to my inbox but mark it as
SPAM in the subject line. I don't get many of those but when I do,
most of the time it is spam, sometimes not.

There are settings in your Spectrum email account but I haven't been
in there for ages now. You might fish around in there and see what you
can find.

I don't remember being able to turn off the spam filter but I was
happy with getting all my messages, with suspect ones marked with SPAM
in the subject line. I'd check but I have an issue with logging into
that part of their site and don't want to reset any passwords since it
might mean I'll have to change my email password in multiple apps on
several devices.

If you're on Spectrum and were formerly Time Warner, you should be able to turn filtering off. If formerly on Charter, I don't know. I was formerly Time Warner and I just set the spam filter to filter the spam into my Inbox instead of Trash or Junk... that's equivalent to filter off.
