Should a sender receive their own post in their email?

There seems to be cases where some senders don't get a copy of their post in their email. Does this sound right? Could it depend on their email service, or are we mistaken about what is supposed to happen?

Herb,

It depends only on the member's email service or user interface.

Sometimes a message claiming from yourself will be delivered to your spam folder, or rejected outright, because "why would you send yourself an email?" - according to the logic of the email service / spam filter.

Groups.io sends group messages to you according to your subscription settings, mute/follow choices, and NC or Bouncing status. It does not filter out your own messages.

To diagnose a specific case, look in the Email Delivery History tab of the member's page (from your group's Members list). If there are no bounces listed there then the messages were delivered to the member's email service. If the member doesn't see one or more expected message in their inbox they'll have to investigate their Spam, Trash or other folders or filters their email service uses.

From Help: ?Seeing copies of your own messages that you email to groups
?
By default, some email providers¡ªmost notably Gmail¡ªdo not show their users copies of the messages that those users send to Groups.io groups through email. If you use one of those providers, and your Groups.io email delivery option is set to Individual Messages, and you want to ensure that you see copies in your email application of messages that you have emailed to your groups:
?
Display your Account page.
In the left navigation menu, select Preferences.
Scroll to the Email Preferences panel near the bottom of the page.
Under My Messages, select the I always want copies of my own emails checkbox.
Note: This checkbox is selected by default in new Groups.io accounts. If you do not want to see copies of your own messages, clear this checkbox.
Click the Update Preferences button at the bottom of the page.
(For those interested in the technical details: When this checkbox is selected, Groups.io replaces the Message-Id header with a new, system-generated one and renames the original Message-Id header to X-Orig-Message-Id.)

Thanks Frances and Shal.. It looks like I can't see this member's account info (!?) so I sent him the info to check. He has no recent bounces. so perhaps UWyo is the culprit (unless he didn't have that checkbox checked for getting his own mail).

Herb,

It looks like I can't see this member's account info (!?) so I sent
him the info to check.
You can only see information about his subscription to your group. You do that by clicking on his address in the Members list.

You cannot see a member's account information, the Account pages are available only to the account holder.

He has no recent bounces. so perhaps UWyo is the culprit (unless he
didn't have that checkbox checked for getting his own mail).
If his email service isn't Gmail (or powered by Google) then the account setting will have no effect - it is a work-around specific to a Gmail quirk.

It looks like UWyo is powered by Microsoft Office365, and that probably is the cause. He can check to see if the messages are being marked as spam. If he can't find them that way maybe UWyo's email tech support can help.

I TRIED THIS AND IT DIDN'T WORK

I am not sure whether or not this is related to not getting copies of your own emails. If so, you seem to have 2 accounts, including this one. One was started Feb 6 and one Feb 7. ?Both are set for No Mail. You do not receive email from this group. I don't know about any other group.

I'm not sure what directions you followed, but if it was about the Account Preferences option "I always want copies of my own emails" that is only effective for Gmail addresses, or addresses powered by Google's services.

As I replied to Herb, messages from yourself are likely being diverted or rejected by your email service.

You can check for rejections on the Recent Bounces page of your account:
/account?page=bounces

If your messages are not listed there then check your email service's web interface for the Spam folder, Junk folder, or whatever they call it. Perhaps its settings can be adjusted, or perhaps you can set up a filter to ensure that your messages are delivered to your Inbox.
