Herb,
There seems to be cases where some senders don't get a copy of their
post in their email. Does this sound right? Could it depend on their
email service, or are we mistaken about what is supposed to happen?
It depends only on the member's email service or user interface.
Sometimes a message claiming from yourself will be delivered to your spam folder, or rejected outright, because "why would you send yourself an email?" - according to the logic of the email service / spam filter.
Groups.io sends group messages to you according to your subscription settings, mute/follow choices, and NC or Bouncing status. It does not filter out your own messages.
To diagnose a specific case, look in the Email Delivery History tab of the member's page (from your group's Members list). If there are no bounces listed there then the messages were delivered to the member's email service. If the member doesn't see one or more expected message in their inbox they'll have to investigate their Spam, Trash or other folders or filters their email service uses.
