reached limit of new members
I sent invitations in bulk to 53 members, by copying in a list of 53 email addresses each on their own line in the invite address box.?
I received a message that i had reached the limit of adding members without approval, and then something about members would be approved.? And now there is no trace of these member invitations in the "pending" list, which i expected. I have not been able to find any information about member limits and invitations...although I could have missed something... Will I need to resend these invites? what is the limit for whatever it was that I reached? What are the next steps? thanks in advance, Liz |
Hi Liz,
?
I received a message that i had reached the limit of adding members without approval, and then something about members would be approved.? ?
As an anti-spam measure, your invitation list will be reviewed and (presumably) approved by Groups.io. It may take a few hours for that to happen, maybe days but not usually that long.

Invitees need no further approval (from you) so they don't go to the group's Pending list. I don't recall precisely, but I believe they should still be showing on your Invite page.

?
Will I need to resend these invites? ?
Nope, just hang tight.
?
?
what is the limit for whatever it was that I reached? ?
Twenty in a 24-hour period.
?
?
What are the next steps? ?
Once your invitation list is approved by Groups.io the next step will be up to each invitee. As each one receives and accepts their invitation he/she is added to your group's Members list. The Invite page should also show you each one's status.

Press the Invite button and then? the Sent Invitations button.? This will give you a list of those individuals that were sent messages. There is a column for date invite was sent and each individuals status (Accepted/Sent). On Wed, Apr 3, 2019 at 2:24 PM Shal Farley <shals2nd@...> wrote:

I'm thinking it would be a very good idea if the answer to this repetitive (an aptly descriptive word, not a criticism) question were contained within the message sent to an Owner/Moderator who invites "too many" people at once. That approach should eliminate the regularly expressed confusion over this situation. Jim H |
Jim, I'm thinking it would be a very good idea if the answer to this repetitive ... question were contained within the message sent to an Owner/Moderator who invites "too many" people at once. I haven't seen that message in a long time, but this sounds like a good idea to me. Mark may be reluctant to say anything that sounds like a commitment to a timeframe, but hopefully you or he can come up with something agreeably vague. Does anyone have a sample of the text? If I recall correctly it is a banner, not an email. But the notice of the review completion is an email, does anyone have a sample of that? I'm thinking these samples and some advice about Invite/Direct Add might be good fodder for GMF's wiki. Something almost as simple as the Bounce Probe example. There is a page about Direct Add from a? Yahoo Group, but it is focused on that task, not the overall Invite or Direct Add process. But back to your suggestion - I know you know where the suggestion box is and how to use it. Indeed, and I'll be glad to make a suggestion there... but I don't think I've ever seen the full notice given when "too many" people are invited to a group. Is it a banner seen on-line following inviting "too many" or is it an emailed notice? Could someone who has a copy either post it here or directly to me? Thank you. Jim H |
