Prospective Subscriber has a problem in responding to a Pending Message

The response is being diverted because this person is not a subscriber yet. It's generally best to instruct people replying to the Pending Subscription member notice to send it to the group's +owner address. Alternatively, you can change your group settings to allow non-subscribers to post (see Admin>Settings>Message Policies), in which case the response can be sent to the group posting address but will be moderated.? Go to Admin>Members and open the Pending subscriber's record. Scroll to the bottom of the resulting page and click on Send Message. Below the message editor on the resulting page is a pull-down "Notices" menu that you can use to select and resend the notice. ? Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Thank you Bruce.? I've managed to do this but in a slightly different manner. I ticked the selected Members' box and then clicked the Actions button beneath the Pending Member.? This gave various options, including the Resend one I wanted.
Following the resend notice, the person then did the necessary and is now one of us! Regards Peter |

FWIW non - members emailing the Group Owner show up in the Activity Log; the Title is recorded in the log but the substance of it is not. Again FWIW replies to P/S messages get lumped together with all other emails to the Owner under the catch - all Action as Message to +Owner, which makes finding them just that bit more tricky; some filtering with the Mark 1 Eyeball becomes necessary! So instructions to send responses to the Owners address are simply not necessary, and it does not require the originator to be a member for the message to get through. Chris |

From the system help: Pending Subscription
?
Sent automatically to anyone who applies for membership in a restricted group. The notice marked "active" is the one sent; if no notice is active, none is sent. Some groups use this notice to ask a series of questions of applicants in support of their application; responses will go to the group owner address and be recorded in the member¡¯s page under "+owner messages."
The fact remains, though, that someone in the process of joining Peter's group was -- for whatever reason -- sending his response to the group address. Regards, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

We're slowly getting there however, a similar thing occurred this month!? We're hoping to resolve it by sending a further Pending Notice.
I noticed (no pun intended!) that there is a 'new' button at the foot of the Member's information, "Send Confirmation Email".? Is the intention that:once the Approve Pending Sub button has been pressed, we should then Send Confirmation Email ? Regards Peter |

We're hoping to resolve it by sending a further Pending Notice. Can I suggest that you carefully check the wording of your Pending Subscription message? Make sure that it doesn't say "please send us a message" but does say "please reply to this email" just in case the wording misdirects or might misdirect those who read it. IMHO the Send Confirmation Email tab is slightly misleading; it is a further request to the applicant to send the necessary confirmation to get rid of the NC status flag. I have tried it once or twice with absolutely no response from the person concerned. :( Chris |
