Prevent view of "Subgroups" from another group
Hello,?
I have a subgroup which includes only members who should not be able to view any other subgroup name until their training (a group of trainees).? To these people this group should seem like the only group in our system.? While they can see (and are a member) of our top level group it's locked down - no messages from any members, etc.? What I can't suppress is the "subgroups" list appearing in the left hand navigation pane.? Is there a way to hide this or globally prohibit these users from joining any group they have not been explicitly added to? |

You could set each of the subgroups to Restricted Membership on the Spam Control panel.? Folks from the main group could still see them, but would have to be approved to join (or be invited). I was hoping to find a way to treat a subgroup independently instead of having to change the behavior of all other groups.? I'd like to do this in a way where the subgroup is limited to seeing anything outside of its "box", but allow other members outside of that box to view and join groups without moderation.??Subgroups have all the functionality of normal groups, but for someone to be a member of a subgroup, that person must first be a member of the primary (parent) group.? All members of the subgroup will see the contents of the main group. However you can change the main group to be an announcement only group which means that only owners and moderators with permission can post to the main group. That might help achieve what you want. Subgroups must have spam control. Your choice of how that happens. /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/spam-control-and-moderation-settings Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |
