oops! accidentally deleted group

Jim Wells

Hey all,

I just blew it! ?I deleted my group...

Is there anything I can do? ?Any suggestions?

I ¡®thought¡¯ I was deleting the old yahoo group, I had searched yahoo for my group¡¯s name, and was so used to groups.io appearance that I didn¡¯t realize I...

I know I can¡¯t get it back, but maybe there¡¯s some advice here?

Jim -- The delete dialog clearly states that the action cannot be undone, and forces you to type "I understand" to complete the deletion. If any help is forthcoming on this, it will have to come from support ([email protected]). Please let us know what kind of response you get, for future reference.

If you contact support and you find they can't help you, do you have
the complete membership list with emails?

If you do, you can create a new group and invite all of the members to
it, explaining what happened. You will lose your messages and files
but have a new group. Pick a name similar to the old one.

But hopefully support can help you.

Jim-- I don't mean to carp, but many of us don't have time to read every GMF post and rely on subject lines to decide which topics to follov. Descriptive subject help a lot. Best, Marv

Marv -- As the Moderator who approved it, I accept responsibility for that.

Generally we all need to do a better job of reviewing incoming topics and --- if necessary -- providing a subject line more useful to both subscribers and the search engine. When the Yahoo flood was ongoing, we could be forgiven for putting such things on the back burner. That excuse no longer exists.

Just curious how your situation was resolved, Jim.? I'm wondering because I blew it myself just now.? Deleted the wrong group!? So you're not alone.

I'd been trying to delete two testing groups (which had been created more than a year ago and served their purpose), but during a month of multiple attempts, nothing happened -- the groups remained in my pull-down menu.? I wanted the testing groups gone because one of them had a name very similar to the one that I accidentally deleted, which was a fear that ultimately came true, argh!
