Thanks,?Duane. Clearly, the display name has to be optional. In my situation, the group I want to use this for is a pure announcement group, so only moderators (in this case, only I, as the owner) can post. So the system will not accept postings from vanilla members. Small caveat: if a member responds to one of my postings, the response goes only to me and my return response to the member goes only to the member. But then does process the email in this manner. So possibly, an empty display name would be populated by such a member response. However, it's rare that I get such responses.? -P. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPeter, because we changed the name of the group (before there were any members other than owner), some of the URLs were still for the old name and I had to change them¡eg, in the welome msg. Do you know how I can find out if the same is true for the join URL and, if so, how I can correct it? Thanks Leah ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Peter S. Hi Lea,
You can find the group|s URL by opening (while in your group as owner) Admin/Preferences/Promote There in the top right hand corner you see the box Invite your friends And at the bottom of that box you see the URL of the group. I assume if you add /join You have the URL for joining the group. Kind regards Thomas |
Hi, Leah,
I would just try going to the "join" URL for your current group name and seeing if it works. A slight complication: If you are already a member of the group your login cookie might be stored. In this case, if you go to the join link, it flashes up on the screen and then disappears. So try it from an incognito (anonymous) browser window. All you have to look for is whether the window with the text field comes up. ?
I hope this helps!

You might want to reduce the background colour of your homepage image, and ?put some of your homepage info in a Welcome notice. I like to use the editing tools including the tools behind ..... (ellipsis).
?
I am not sure how you tested it - you might get a better idea of what it looks like by using "private window" or "incognito" mode.

Frances, I don't think your response is correct. What Linda described is exactly what happens when a logged-in group member attempts to go to the join link. The screen flashes for a moment and then redirects the user to the group home page.?
?
This happens even if the?logged-in group member manually enters the full url to the join link into the browser's search bar.
Linda, if you are logged in as a group member (or perhaps just have an automatic login cookie set) and want to test the join facility, you must do it from an incognito (anonymous) browser window. Part of my #suggestion to the beta group was that if the person accessing the join link is currently logged in as a group member, a dialog should come up saying "You are already a group member" with an OK to dismiss. -P. Linda, what you observe is exactly what happens if you are logged into the account as a member and you try to go to the join lin.?

Peter, you are right. I suggested she log in with a private window or incognito to test this.
However you do have to scroll down the page to see the Join button.?

Linda,
On your Home page /g/PeachheadNanny I suggest: 1) replacing To Request Membership into the PeachheadNanny group click Join Herewith Scroll down and click on the blue "+ Join This Group" button. (They will be instantly subscribed) 2) remove Upon approval of group membershipbecause your Group does not require Approval to Join Subscriptions to this group do not require approval from the moderators.OR change that at Admin > Preferences > Settings > Group Type and Membership by checking the "Restricted Membership" box then scroll down and click on the blueish-green "Update Group" button. -Michael On Apr 7, 2025, at 11:12?PM, Linda Perry <linda@...> wrote: |

I found this interesting so I tried the link and then the Join Here on the home page and both just sent me to the home page. ? While personally not interested in joining the group? I wanted to see what it was about and if it was something for my groups. ? So not sure what Join Here for either link was to take you to and what you would be able to do but nothing happened for me. ? I did not see that button "Join This Group" before. I looked and on none of my groups that are unlimited (anyone can join) their homepages does not have that button.

There is no way to set up a one-click link to join a group. At a minimum, the prospective subscriber must provide an email address.
?
There is an ongoing discussion about this in the beta group. () You might want to weigh in there.
