How to send a Member Notice . . .
Help, please.? How do I send a Member Notice to my group? I see where I can edit it but don't see any way to send it other than copying it into an email and posting it to the group. That same message needs to be sent out to the group on the 15th of each month, but not necessarily as a 'Special Notice'. What is the best way (or ways) to accomplish this?? Am I overlooking something? Regards, Paul M. CRL Owner == |

Paul,
I see where I can edit it but don't see any way to send it other thanFind the member(s) you want to send it to in your group's Members list and put a check in the box on their rows. Then select Send Message from the Actions menu at the bottom of the page. That will open a message composition page. Beneath the composition box for the message body will be a drop-list for Notices. Select one from that list to fill in the message subject and body from one of your pre-written member notices. You can select from notices of type Note To Member, Pending Subscription, or Group Guidelines. That same message needs to be sent out to the group on the 15th ofThe only way to schedule a message, other than the Group Guidelines, is to use a calendar event. Thanks Shal for your response, but I guess I was not specific enough about what I need to do.
Sorry to seem so dense about this but, what if the message is for my entire group instead of for only a few selected members? I looked and do see what you memtioned about choosing member(s) & using the dropdown menu for sending a message. But the message in point is one of those which is already saved at Admin > Settings > Member Notices. But from there the only options are, to edit it, to delete it, or to make it active so that it will go out to the group on the 1st of the month. There is no option for sending it at any other time of the month. So all I can figure to do is to copy the Subject line and the message text into a blank email and send it to my group's Post Message email address, manually each month on the desired date. That is what I did yesterday and the message was posted to the group. (And I could not figure out a way to use the Calendar for doing this, but I'll snoop around that some more.) Regards, Paul M. <snip> Is it my imagination or does this query arise fairly regularly? Perhaps one solution would be to ask on beta for a second (or even third) "Member Notice" to be made available to Owners / Moderators, to be sent out on a fixed but selectable date every month. It is not something we would seem to require on the Group I moderate, so I feel that any such suggestion should come from a Group Owner or Moderator who does see the need; apart from anything else having been involved in a small refinement of the proposed revamped "Topics" page I don't want to push my luck with Mark! We? also have calendar reminders and info blasts that go out periodfically, some every month, others every two weeks.
Our Board of Directors' meeting reminder also get sent this way. No problems with calendar.? Just a complex function to learn. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |
