Failed transfers.....
I requested (purchased) two transfers of Yahoo groups.
Of the first (Greendel), the Yahoo membership was 991 and 436 ended up in the IO group.? Of course I was able to download the membership from Yahoo directly. Of the second (Delaware State Freecycle) of the 9000 some members none got transferred.? And of course Yahoo limits the easy downloads to a max of 1000. I requested downloads from Yahoo on Oct 19 but nothing ever happened.? I have just repeated the requests and they have been acknowledged. So I am not sure what to do now.? Would people suggest buying the PGOffline product?? It triggers all sorts of "publisher unknown" warnings on my machine.? Is there another way to capature the membership list? Thanks for any guidance. |

I requested (purchased) two transfers of Yahoo groups. I requested downloads from Yahoo on Oct 19 butAlan - Did you check your Yahoo Mail box? I made that mistake the first time and the reply had been sitting there. I just requested a new download in case this one gets something the last one missed. Dano |
I purchased the PGOffline program and with that was able to download and export the list of members by display name.? But I am NOT getting the email addresses or any other member data.? Does anyone know if there is a way to do that with PGO?? Or, failing that, can the Chrome app do it?
Frances, by purchase I meant the transfer service from iogroups. I also tried the Archiveteam but it returned an error message.? Will try it again. ? https://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Yahoo!_Groups Thanks. Alan |
Alan,
I still haven't learned how to get the group members with theirIn PGO, in the Group menu, select "Get Members for Current Group" or "Get Members for All Groups". After they download you can export them. Only works if you moderate or own the group. One of the drop downs allows for membership retrieval.? BUT, you must be either an owner or moderator in a group that masks the emails to get the membership email listing into PGO ...? OR, the YG allows the emails to be displayed for the group. (this isn't the normal default setting).
Some folks who had joined used their email as their user name.? Thus, it's a no brainer to figure out. BMaverick |
Discovered I was getting the emails into PGO.? They just weren't visible in the window I was looking at (!)
As for what is still available from Yahoo (Verizon) this seems to vary from time to time.? On my largest list I've only gotten about the first half of it, but plan to keep trying as opportunity arises. |
