Email Question

When an email is posted to our group, the originator is not receiving a copy of the email (we moderate all messages).? Is that how it is supposed to work???

It's just a little hard because the member doesn't know if the email was actually posted or not.

Thanks for the input.

I do not ever recall, whether on Groups.io or other mailing lists, getting copies of messages I send to the list back in my inbox, as I sent them and don't need a copy.? E-mail is mature enough that "it went successfully" should be presumed unless you get a bounce message back.

That being said, I could have sworn that there was a setting somewhere that acts quite a bit like the "BCC Me" option when you're sending a private message, but that is to make your own messages sent to the list come back to you.? ?I cannot seem to locate it at the moment, and I could be imagining things.

No. Groups.io returns a member's own messages to him/her the same as others' messages.

Most likely the member's email service is either diverting his/her own messages to the Spam folder, or is rejecting them, or (if it is Gmail or powered by Gmail) hiding them. Some email services think that an incoming message from one's own address is "spammy" or likely fraudulent, or (as in Gmail) unneeded because you already have the copy you sent.

(we moderate all messages).?

That wouldn't matter.

It's just a little hard because the member doesn't know if the email was actually posted or not.

I hate that too. It is why I won't use Gmail with most list services. Fortunately Groups.io has a workaround for the Gmail (mis)feature: in one's Account Preferences check the I always want copies of my own emails box. That won't help though in the other cases.

Shal,

? ? ? ? ? ? I use Gmail, via web interface, exclusively, and it has not rejected or spam-trapped a message from groups.io in I don't know how long.? ?Some (particularly the self-BCCed ones) do get the "THIS MESSAGE MAY NOT BE FROM YOU" banner, but one learns to ignore that with ease.

? ? ? ? ? ? Not that this user shouldn't check his Spam folder, and unmark anything incorrectly classified, but after a little of that Groups.io messages land reliably in one's inbox, with a "big little warning" about something that Groups.io has tweaked that appears to originate from oneself.

I agree, but I don't know if that's relevant to the member Darla mentioned. If she stated the member's email service I missed that.

Darla

Maybe you need to look at the Groups 'defaultsubsettings'; Message Selection and what choices have been made here.
