Can a Yahoo Group be transferred without the member list?

I know it seems strange to ask but I wondered if it was possible to have the messages and files (and links if there is that feature - can't see it) and not the member list, at least not initially.

Robert,

I had my archives transferred to a subgroup without the membership, so yes it can be done. You have to copy your own files and links/database yourself though and manually move it.

?Ah I don't know about sub-groups! Is this something that has to be created within a group you create on Groups.io, and as a special request?

Yes, a group may have one or more subgroups.

Group owners can use the +Subgroup page (in the list at the left) to create new subgroups. Mods or members may be able to also, depending on the "Create Sub Groups" option on the group's Settings page.

and as a special request?
Yes, at Step 2 in the Easy Group Transfer process, when you send the "go ahead" email to transfer @ groups.io be sure to name the subgroup as the destination for the messages, and let them know that you do not want the members transferred.

You can create (and delete) your own subgroups. If you're the owner (or moderator with the correct permissions) you'll see an item in the left menu of your group named Subgroup with a plus sign to the left of it. Click on that and you're on your way!

?Shal,

I don't see subgroup in the menus of GMF or your test group (I don't yet have my own group).

You'll only see the option if you have permission to use it. Once you own a group, or have the correct permissions as a moderator, it will show up.

You don't because in both groups the option is set to "Owners Only" - I think that's the default.

In my test group you're a moderator with the privilege to change group settings, so if you'd like to play with subgroups feel free to change the option to "Moderators and Owners" or "Subscribers".
