Features:

o Each item in the Topics list is a link to the start of that topic in the body.

o Each message has a link back to the Topics list.

o The links at the bottom of each message are compact and easy to read.
In the plain text digest those links take more space and look cluttered
because the URLs are shown.

o All links are "live".
With the plain text digest if your email service or software doesn't "linkify"
plain text URLs then you will need to copy/paste them to your browser.

o Some users prefer the formatted appearance of the HTML digest.

o Emoticons in the message bodies are shown as graphics.


Cons:

o The message is encoded in HTML.
Some email clients don't handle HTML well, or at all.
Some users prefer plain text.

o Each digest takes more bytes to transmit.
Costs more if using metered or otherwise limited internet service.
Requires more storage if you archive the messages for future reference.

o Font size and color choices in the individual messages are shown.
This can disrupt the appearance and/or readability of the digest.

o Emoticons in the message bodies are shown as graphics.
Some people despise this.
