Are Transferred Members actually utilizing new Groups.io
I recently transferred a Yahoo group. I'm still working through navigating the new Groups.io group.
Generally, the transfer was fast and went well.
But I have a question.
Is there a way to tell which transferred members are actually signing in or activating their Groups.io membership.
How can the owner tell if the members have actually moved to Groups.io |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCouldn¡¯t you just send a msg to the group asking the members to check in?

If they were transferred from Yahoo, their accounts are already activated. Go to Admin->Members. They are all listed there. Hope this helps, Bruce? -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
A transfer does not create an account on the site. It subscribes them to the group only.? They need to create an account on the site and use the subscribed email address to access the web permissions for the group.
From what I see, only the activity log would show a web action, but not log in and out status. |

A person can use the site/group without setting a password by entering their email address on the Log In page and selecting the option to "Email me a link" which will log them in when they click on the link.? If they don't clear cookies on that device, they'll have access for 30 days.? This can be repeated as often as you like. Bryan,
That's not an account, that's a token. You may consider it semantics, but yes the email address is the ID (or token) to an account. Direct Add and group transfer create the account behind the ID, as does signing up, accepting an invitation, or sending a +subscribe command and confirming it. To log in to that account the member need only use the "Email me a link to log in" button, or go through the the "Forgot your password, or don't have one yet?" link. That's not an account, that's?a token. If you have an email address of any kind and GIO has confirmed that you can receive mail there, then you already have an "account." If the address was not in Bouncing status on Yahoo, the transfer agent assumes that address is working and does not send a confirmation email. Those addresses in Yahoo that are in Bouncing status are not simply transferred. If you subsequently register another email address then that's a second account. Long-time users of Yahoo groups are accustomed to creating a Yahoo account under which several email addresses may be associated (including, typically, a Yahoo mail address). Or they may have a defunct email address that they use on Yahoo to subscribe to a group but have email delivery turned off and read their mail online. It does not work that way here. GMF is full of threads where someone is undoubtedly logged in under the wrong email address (or not logged in at all) and can't figure out why the web interface isn't letting them do what they expect. A typical one was posted to the group just last evening (/g/GroupManagersForum/message/10739?). Sooner or later all new users of GIO need to wrap their head around this.? ? Don,
Is there a way to tell which transferred members are actually signingAs Bruce mentioned, their membership (subscription) is active immediately. Meaning that they start receiving posts from the group and they can post to the group by email. They can also log in to Groups.io, by entering the email address that is subscribed to your group on the login page, and immediately access your group's web pages as a member. You (as group owner/moderator) can't tell when they log into Groups.io or visit your group's web pages unless they do something like post using the group's page or change a subscription setting that isn't available by email. That is, you only have indirect evidence not a definitive status indication.
