Bouncing members help
#bouncing
Hi folks,
I was doing my monthly bouncing member cleanup and run across a couple of strange ones (to me at least, email comms are not my forte), so could you shed a bit of light on these? User-1: User-2: Also, if there is no bounce info at all but the user still shows as bouncing, that means they are bouncing through another group, right? Thanks and Cheers, Christos |
For the first bounce probes, the address 174.136.12.169 is apparently a hosting service (owned by LLC?) since I found a lot of domains that resolve to that.? It seems they are expecting SMTP authentication to be turned on at the sending service.? I'd say the receiving email service is misconfigured (or has been recently changed) and not allowing emails to be received.? It's also possible that someone has intentionally turned on that feature for an email account without realizing the consequences.? This would be similar to instances where I've replied to a private email, only to get a message that I have to jump through hoops for the original sender to get my reply (so they don't get an answer.)
For user-2, synschronoss.net is know to exhibit weird behavior on occasion and not always follow the rules. I believe you're correct that a bouncing member not showing a problem on your group is caused by messages from another group.
