Subscriber marked as spam message

Judi J

I received the following message:

This is to notify you that mad14kt@... has been unsubscribed from your group [email protected] because message Monthly News was marked as spam. Note that this may have been done by their email service provider, not by the individual member personally. They've been given a link that lets them quickly resubscribe, in case this was an error.

To turn off this notification, log into and edit your subscription.

Thank you for choosing Groups.io groups.

Read the message again.? It was marked as spam on their end, they're not accused of sending it.? See /helpcenter/faq/1/group-member-faq/q-i-got-a-message-that-i?single=true

Not true; they are being "accused" of marking it as spam, or alternatively their email provider might have marked it as spam; it isn't your fault.

What do I do?
Read this from the GMF wiki!

I would suggest sending an email to them from your account letting them know that they've been un-enrolled from your group as either their email application or ISP thought it was spam.? Sending it from you account and not via Groups.io is an attempt to get the email delivered, if their provider considers Groups.io email as spam.

Generally, the message sent from Groups.io to notify them that they have been removed is in their spam folder where they may never see it.

Regards,
Mike

Mike,

Generally, the message sent from Groups.io to notify them that they
have been removed is in their spam folder where they may never see it.
True, that's fairly likely.

I think in that message the member should be encouraged to go look for the Groups.io notice, mark it "not spam" and use it to _resume_ their membership.

As Ken mentioned (in another topic) this helps ensure that they "resume" their membership, with their role, privileges and settings intact; which is usually desirable as opposed to starting over by re-joining the group.*

Also this is good practice for marking group messages as "not spam"; something they should be checking periodically in the future.

*Some reports indicate that Groups.io may actually "resume" a membership after this event even if the user re-joins or is re-added by a moderator. But I haven't tested that. Possibly that applies only to Premium groups, where information about removed members is kept in a Prior Members list.

I have clicked on the link that allowed me to resume my membership and it gets me right back in without having to enter my password or anything.? I think that's the best setup you could possibly do - adding that link to the email.? It's saved my bacon a number of times.

Sincerely,

Is there a setting that can be turned off to NOT unsubscribe a member when they hit SPAM on a groups.io message?
I have plenty of folks doing it by mistake not understanding why they are no longer subscribed, I did explain and guide, but turning off would be easier at this point.

Thanks,
Motti

There is no such setting.
