Member in membership not recognized by Groups.io

Stuck on a problem with one user.? The? user is receiving posts from? the group list.? The user is in the list of members, all appears to be in order.? Yet, when this user attempts to post a message, he is "moderated"; approval by? myself by replying to the message works, once, but then the next message he tries is held up again.? The user is? unable to create a login because the email address is not recognized.? I've checked every letter of the email address; the? user address matches the one in the directory.? Any ideas on where the error lies?

Thanks? for your help, learning a lot from seeing the other posts.

Have you checked the activity in Admin (left side) menu)?
Also go to Members in Admin and check there.?

Also when he gets a post, he should look at the bottom of the email (footer) which gives his email address.?It is possible he has two accounts.?
Or his email is auto-completing with the Yahoo email address?

Frances,

Thanks for the tips.?? There were two problems:

"Problem was the email address I was using. I always omit the dot between first and last name ¡ª and, until now, with no problem.?
?
Seem that .io needs the dot."

And, the user was set to have all messages moderated for some reason.

Thanks again,

Dan

That catches people now and then.? To GIO, joe.smith and joesmith are 2 different people.? Better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Not all email systems treat joe.smith@... and joesmith@...
the same. Even JoeSmith@... can be different than
joesmith@.... All these decisions are left up to example.com, and
there's no standard way--that I know of--for the various systems to
advertise their handling rules. Very much better safe than sorry here. :-)

In fact, section 2.3.11 of the SMTP RFC [1] addresses this discrepancy among
email systems explicitly (in the jargon of this RFC, local-part is everything
before the @):

Consequently, and due to a long history of problems when intermediate
hosts have attempted to optimize transport by modifying them, the
local-part MUST be interpreted and assigned semantics only by the host
specified in the domain part of the address.
