Moving Attachments To Files
I have read the Attachments, Files and Photos FAQs: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Attachments%2C-Files-and-Photos /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Deleting%20attachments,%20files%20and%20photos /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Attachments%2C-Files-and-Photos%3A-Part-2 But have a number of questions about Attachments: 1. Is it possible for Attachments to be stripped from message and automatically placed in a directory in Files? 2. Is my understanding of these two attachment options correct: 2.1 Bounce = Bounce the whole message including attachments, if so what is the response to the sender? 2.2 Strip = Post the message but strip the attachments, if so what is the response to the sender? 3. Is there a way to bulk download multiple files sent as attachments? TIA |

No. It will be bounced with a 500-level error, as follows: groupname @ groups.io (reading confirmation): 500 The group does not permit attachments. If the subscriber has email delivery turned on, the message will be posted back to him without the attachment. There is no separate notification. You can export all attachments using the "Export Group Data" button at the top of the Settings page. Groups.io provides no other bulk download function. Bruce |

Well, I need to correct myself on this last one.You can export all attachments using the "Export Group Data" button at the top of the Settings page. Groups.io provides no other bulk download function. Attachments are indeed downloaded in a group export, but they are embedded in the mbox file, and are not made available as individual files. Only after I visited a couple of my own group exports did that light in my brain flicker back on. So it appears the only way to get attachments is to visit each message containing one and download them individually. Sorry for the misinformation. Bruce |
