a list of hash tags for managing lists? does this exist?
Hello, I have not read the KB yet, I'm at work, but when I get off I'll look for the answer unless someone beats me to it.
Anyway is there a list of hash tags for list management that only admins can apply to threads etc? I want to know in case I have to manage from the road and cannot visit the site on my phone etc. an example might be if I want to close a topic etc. Take care and have a happy wednesday. It's off to work I go. |
Sarah,
Anyway is there a list of hash tags for list management that onlyNo. You create the hashtags at need. Click on Hashtags in the left column of your group, then on the "Create Hashtag" button at the bottom of the hashtag list. At the bottom is a list of checkboxes that you can use to give each hashtag the management functions you wish. The help page gives you a little more information about these functions: /static/help#hashtags I want to know in case I have to manage from the road and cannotI don't think you can do add a hashtag to an existing topic, except through the web site (Edit Topic). So the example of closing a topic by email wouldn't work. Shal |

But you can't lock a topic using a hashtag anyway, even if you add it via the web. First, there's no such hashtag feature yet. It was one of my requests/suggestions on beta yesterday. You can set a hashtag duration, and set it to lock after that duration, but the minimum duration is one hour. There's no hashtag setting that will lock a topic. Second, even if there were such a hashtag - one that locks a topic immediately (which there isn't) - adding such a hashtag to an existing topic via the web will not successfully lock it, since replies via email to the originally-named-topic email will still get through. -- J |

If the addition of a hashtag is not treated as a subject change, the locking may work even after its addition, since it's the subject change that subverts the locking. I will let you know. But either way, you still have the other two problems: no such hashtag feature (yet), and inability to add hashtags via email).? ? -- J |

I will let you know.It seems that you CAN add a hashtag without subverting the locking (or moderation) of a thread, since the tag is not treated as part of the subject line. Still, you won't ever be able to lock threads via email, since you can't add tags via email even if there WERE a hashtag feature that locks threads.? ? -- J |
