Attachments when members sending using Windows 10 mail app

Aleksandar ?uri?

Hello,

I am not sure is it Groups bug or app bug, but, as we are sending messages using Windows 10 integrated mail app ? we have this kind of attachments.

?I am forwarding to you my message and you can review.

I am just wondering could we do something to prevent false positive attachments?

Thanks for your responses

A na moj odgovor tebi, nema! Ba? zanimljivo! Jer, na primer, kad Gordan po?ne prepisku sa svojim ata?mentima, svi koji repliciraju u prepisci, nose njegov ?ig, o?u da reknem prilog. A sad toga nema.

Aleksandar,

I am not sure is it Groups bug or app bug, but, as we are sending

attachments.
I presume you were talking about the image (PNG, 708 x 1 pixels) that was attached to your message? I'm betting that's coming from the posting member's email interface.

It was a PNG file, not a remote image, so it isn't used for tracking. It is only 148 bytes long but I wasn't entirely sure that the content is benign so out of caution I (moderator) trimmed it before approving your message.

I am just wondering could we do something to prevent false positive
attachments?
What do you mean by "false positive"? Is the image causing a spam filter to quarantine the messages? Or an anti-malware program?

No, I just mean that nobody attached this PNG, and I called it false positive.

Its irritating that we cannot do anything to prevent this PNG, but Windows 10 mail app is widely used in our community.

I think that another group platforms not generating this PNG from the same client.

Also I tried a few conversations from the app with my contacts and PNG wasn't there, definitly.

positive.
It could also be attached by the sender's security scanner or other software that mediates his/her email traffic.

I haven't seen it before, but I don't know if anyone here or in my other groups is using the native Win10 mail app. I do see the occasional ad text and/or image attached by members' email interfaces.

Interesting. Is it possible that the other list was plain-text only and quietly dropped the image?

That doesn't explain why you don't see it in direct conversation. Though I think the image is blank (possibly transparent) so it would be easy for someone to not notice it.

Feel free to contact me off-list to see if I see it directly, or play with it in my test group,

I tested in your group and you can see.

Aleksandar,

I tested in your group and you can see.
I do indeed.

And I'm more convinced, looking at the source, that it came from your email interface. The boundary marker that separates it from the message bodies:

Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
boundary="_B716E74D-7A6D-4E1A-A7AE-430B2B75007D_"
is of the same format as the marker that separates the message bodies (plain and HTML) from each other:

Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
boundary="_945C41F1-806F-41E8-BE8B-D84011A2A67E_"
That seems an unlikely coincidence for two separate origins.

I was wrong about the color. it isn't white or transparent, it is a pale steel blue.

To really nail this, send another reply to the test group but this time cc me directly. Then I'll be able to compare the via-group copy with one untouched by Groups.io. If you'd like to see also CC yourself at another address (NOT the same gmail address as you're sending from).
